Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jamaal Muhammad. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Jamaal with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My work ethic stems from me watching my family work my whole life. Everyone in my family is what you may call a “ workaholic”. I have learned that in order to be great in this life and successful you have to work ten times harder than the next person. Growing up hard work was always preached and respected. My dad instilled this core principle in me when I was little. I saw how he woke up every day at 5am never late to work just to feed his family and take care of his responsibilities. I saw how my grandpa would get at 4am every morning just to take care of his responsibilities. My mom and aunt working day in and day out to be able to provide for themselves and their family. Watching these things as a little boy only caused my work ethic to grow more and more as a young man.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m 23 years old and currently working as a marketing agent at a corporate marketing firm. In addition to my full-time role, I model, write poetry and host a dating podcast where I explore modern relationships and human behavior. I’m also pursuing my Master’s degree in Psychology, with plans to continue on to a Doctoral program to earn my PhD. Most recently, I completed real estate school and am preparing to take the national licensing exam to become a certified real estate agent. I’m passionate about growth, driven by curiosity, and always looking to expand my skills across industries.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Adaptability, Patience, and Consistency these are the pillars that carry us through life.
Life is unpredictable. You never know what it’s going to throw at you. It’s like a roller coaster full of highs and lows. But what truly matters is how you respond to those ups and downs. Change is inevitable, but your ability to adapt is what determines your growth.
Patience is another key, though it’s one of the hardest skills to master. We live in a world where we want results instantly success, recognition, progress and we get frustrated when they don’t come on our timeline. I had to learn, the hard way, that ambition alone isn’t enough. You can put in the work, have the drive, and still not see immediate results. Sometimes, you have to keep grinding, stay focused, and be patient. The reward will come just not always when you expect it.
And then there’s consistency. Nothing in life thrives without it. Whether it’s a relationship, a marriage, a business, a music career, a painting, or an athletic pursuit it all requires showing up day after day. Success isn’t built in bursts; it’s built through steady, consistent effort over time.

We’ve all got limited resources, time, energy, focus etc – so if you had to choose between going all in on your strengths or working on areas where you aren’t as strong, what would you choose?
I believe it’s important to develop a diverse set of skills and explore different career paths. Life is unpredictable, and you never know what opportunities or challenges might come your way. That’s why I think it’s essential to always keep learning. Knowledge is powerful, and its value is truly priceless.
Growing up, my dad encouraged me to try a wide range of activities. I participated in nearly every sport except hockey, learned to play the electric and bass guitar, and even got involved in musical theater acting and hip-hop dancing included. These experiences not only helped me build a variety of talents, but more importantly, they instilled in me a mindset of constant growth and a refusal to become complacent.
There is always more to learn, more ways to improve, and endless opportunities to grow as a person.
