Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jameka Washington . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Jameka , you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?
Growing up I had 3 younger sisters. I was the only child for almost 3 years and when my first sister was born I did struggle with sharing and what not as any other little child does when they have to share their environment with another child. However as I acquired my other two siblings I shared a lot of responsibility for looking out for each of them which gave me a sense of of wanting to do whatever I could to help another person. My mom was a single parent, and we did struggle but in that struggle we were happy. She always taught us to do good for others and I believe this is where my generosity came from.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Introducing to Colorado a new fashion show experience that showcases the best of classic, modern, and alternative menswear from Colorado’s very own Local Designers! We are hoping to capture the essence of Men’s Fashion for all to enjoy. To envision the diversified styles of the Modern Man! We have recently hosted our first annual Men’s Fashion Show involving many talented designers and business leaders alike. We have been discussing branching out with other shows and projects and will be keeping our followers updated through our social media platforms. Our Show has been directed and produced by known model/makeup artist- Jameka Washington and model/business owner, Jessikah Garel. We are excited to make our mark in the Colorado fashion industry as an exclusive fashion show event. It has been a thrill to say our first show was almost sold out and left everyone asking when the next show was going to take place! I do believe this is going to be only the start to a game changer for Colorado and we are excited to share this with anyone that loves fashion!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, three qualities that I believe were impactful on my journey were: patience, organization, and leadership. One thing that I have been working on is taking things day by day. Accomplishing one small thing at a time. It’s frustrating especially for me because I am the type of person that likes to get right to it and get what I need done right away, but I have been learning that something do take time and to appreciate the small achievements. They matter and that is how you get to the bigger picture.
Organization is really key! Having your business plans, thoughts, finances, and vision laid out clearly can really cut a clear path to helping you achieve each goal. There’s something about crossing of that last thing off your to-do list that is so satisfying.
Lastly, taking leadership of your life. No one is you or can be you. Be your own leader. Create your life, fill yourself up with admirations and encouragement. Believe in yourself. Only you can make your dreams come true! Start now!
