We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jamela Marshall, CHt. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jamela below.
Hi Jamela, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
Simple God. God is within me, I cannot fail. Well the scripture actually says, “God is within her she will not fail” Psalms 46:5, but you have to make it personal. I hold this word in my heart and it keeps me going. I’ve been through many things in life and no matter what I just know that there is a greater purpose for me; knowing this pushes me through the hard times.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My journey with holistic medicine started much like it does for anyone else who is faced with a problem and no one around them seems to be able to find a solution, I needed answers and I quickly figured out that it would be up to me to find them. From my very first menstrual cycle until I was diagnosed with Poly Cystic Ovarian Dis-ease (PCOD) and endometriosis, I faced challenges with my womb. I spent years battling doctors, first to acknowledge my concerns and discomfort then for a diagnosis and finally for proper treatment before I got fed up enough to start listening to my intuition and seek alternative routes.
I started researching alternative ways to treat my symptoms and it was like a whole new world opened up to me. Yoni steaming or vagina steaming, was like the gateway into all of this. From the moment I held my first steam sitting in my living room, I’ve been hooked to all things holistic. Yoni steaming helped to relieve a few of my most plaguing symptoms and the different herbs I researched and begin taking coupled with lifestyle changes started to help me to find more balance in my mind.
Still, the more I researched, the more I wanted to know. I knew that I needed to learn all that I could, not just for myself, but so that I could also teach others and help them heal themselves because I firmly believe that we all have that capability. A couple of years back, I began my studies as a hypnotherapist and integrative healer, and this is when it was pressed on my heart to birth Deeply Rooted Holistics.
I choose the name Deeply Rooted Holistics because I believe that healing starts at getting to the root cause of the dis-ease that is happening in your body. It is through Deeply Rooted that I will be able to satisfy the calling of my heart which is to heal the wombs of women as far and wide as my reach will allow. Don’t get me wrong, I want EVERYONE to experience soul freedom, however, I am here for womb work. My mission is to help women be set free from limiting self belief systems and uproot generations of trauma most of which are stored in our wombs and most times, this is the reason for reproductive health issues like PCOD, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, infertility, and ovarian cysts.
Within my practice, I use various healing modalities such as yoni steaming, therapeutic hypnotherapy, guided meditation, sound healing, herbal remedies, flower essences, and spiritual life coaching. I believe in whole being healing: mind, womb, and spirit. There are levels and layers to the healing process, I use hypnosis to heal the mind, herbs for the body, and I help women go within to heal their spirit. I like to think of myself as a healing facilitator; my goal is to help women heal themselves.
I also host sistar circles where I encourage women to come together in groups, we do yoni steams, we bond, we laugh, we cry, and we heal. You can even catch me at local holistic events/fairs/festivals with my healing products (also available on my website), talk to me about my services, or just simply come say hi and get to know me.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Assertiveness, resilience, and my intuition have carried me through my journey. My best advice is not to be afraid to speak up for yourself or others and even if it scares you to do it any way as long as it feels right. Also, trust your gut it is NEVER wrong.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I would love to collaborate with yoga/pilates instructors, retreat centers, doulas, fertility clinics, and any women who is in the business of empowering other women in the holistic healing field. I am very interested in putting together retreats and healing workshops that inspire women to be their best selves.
