James, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
I believe my resilience comes from my time in the Air Force Cadets. During those years, I faced numerous challenges and demanding situations that required mental endurance, discipline, and determination. The training and experiences I went through in the Cadets helped me develop a strong sense of resilience. I learned how to push myself beyond my perceived limits, overcome obstacles, and maintain focus even in the most demanding circumstances.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
As the co-founder of KeraFactor, Skincare for hair, my main responsibility is to lead the overall vision and strategy of the company. I work closely with my team to ensure that we are addressing the specific needs in the scalp and hair care space. Our primary focus is on developing innovative solutions to promote scalp revitalization and hair rejuvenation.

To achieve this, I collaborate with skilled biotech chemists who play a crucial role in creating our biomimetic growth factors. These growth factors are tailored specifically to provide safe and effective results for both men and women, regardless of skin or hair type. One of our key differentiators is that our products are drug-free and hormone-free, making them a safe option for our customers.

Overall, my role as the co-founder involves a combination of strategic decision-making, research and development collaboration, and overseeing the operational aspects of the business. I’m deeply passionate about providing high-quality hair care solutions that help our customers feel confident and empowered in their hair health journey.

We will be launching Lash and Brow at the end of this year.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Reflecting on my journey, I can pinpoint three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful:

Perseverance: The journey of creating KeraFactor Skincare for hair was not without its challenges. There were moments of doubt and setbacks along the way. Perseverance, the ability to keep going despite difficulties, was crucial in overcoming these obstacles. My advice to those early in their journey is to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth. When faced with difficulties, take a step back, reassess your goals, and keep pushing forward with determination. Picking your team around you is important, surround yourself with a supportive network of mentors, colleagues, or friends who can offer guidance and encouragement during tough times.

Continuous Learning: As a co-founder in a specialized field like biotech and hair care, staying updated with the latest research and advancements was vital. Continuous learning enabled me to keep innovating and developing cutting-edge solutions for our customers. To those starting out, I recommend fostering a curious mindset and dedicating time to learning new skills and gaining knowledge. Attend workshops, seminars, or online courses in your field of interest, and seek out opportunities to collaborate with experts or mentors who can expand your knowledge and perspective.

Effective Communication, Collaboration and making decisions: Building a brand requires strong communication, collaboration skills and standing behind your decisions. Being able to convey your vision clearly, delegate tasks effectively, and inspire others to work towards a common goal. My advice is to actively work on improving communication skills through practice and seeking feedback. Be confident with your decisions and embrace teamwork, actively listen to others’ viewpoints, and create an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives are valued.

Remember, success rarely happens overnight; it’s a result of consistent effort, adaptability, and a willingness to embrace the journey with all its ups and downs. Trust in yourself, stay dedicated to your goals, and most important enjoy the learning process along the way.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
Yes, one of the significant challenges we are currently facing in the hair space is the saturation of the market with numerous non-effective products. This saturation can create confusion among consumers and make it difficult for them to distinguish between products that truly work and those that don’t deliver the promised results.

Additionally, there is a need for more education for the patients. Many people might not fully understand the difference between stopping hair loss and promoting hair growth. It’s essential to educate consumers about the importance of addressing the underlying causes of hair loss, as well as the role that hair rejuvenation products like KeraFactor play in supporting healthy hair.

To be most successful with hair growth, it’s crucial to solve and manage the root causes of hair loss first. Once the patient has that under control. Then KeraFactor acts as a supportive solution, providing the necessary nutrients and improving the environment (scalp) to help promote natural healthy hair growth.
