Meet James Bene

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to James Bene. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

James , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I am not sure purpose is something you find but rather is a reflection of who you are. Ever since I was a kid I felt a deep connection to spirituality, humaniterianism and creativity. I had books on the occult, played music and performed skits and sang for my family. When I was a bit older, I knew I wanted to help people in some way and at first did so through the performing arts. As time passed I began to honor the spiritual side of myself more and soon studied, nurtured and dove into modern spirituality and metaphysics. Now as a spiritual teacher, I realize purpose is an ebb and flow of risk taking, listening to my heart and following my gut. I do what is in front of me, especially if it feels good.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a jack of all trades within the spiritual and wellness community. I began my business Bene Mudra over 20 years ago now where I offer private intuitive healings, readings and spiritual mentoring sessions. To just say it frankly…in a nutshell I am a psychic medium with a rich connection to the other world. I don’t bill my self as such because I am so much more! I teach, mentor other healers, run workshops, reiki certification trainings/classes and host international wellness and yoga retreats with my business partner and good friend., Kim Larkin. The next retreat being held in Greece this June 1-8th! I am also a creative soul! I write music and have songs currently released on Spotify, Apple Music and all other streaming platforms. I am currently working on my debut EP to be released soon…god willing!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I think receiving my BFA in music and theatre and attending William Esper acting conservatory in NYC were most impactful on my journey. Acting is really a study of self. It forces you to look deep inside, sort out trauma and be vulnerable. I became a more self realized person through the arts. The study of music allowed me not only to play the piano but understand how to compose and sing. Spiritually, I found a mentor, did a ton of self healing and dove into my gifts head first! I was thirsty for as much knowledge as I could receive from books, teachers, trainings and ultimately connecting to the other side myself as a medium. STUDY and KNOW your craft. This is my advice. People are our greatest teachers. Find one you vibe with and learn, learn , learn! People stay green for too long….be all the colors!

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
I think the biggest f improvement within myself in the last 12 months is cultivating the ability to not know outcomes and just become. Letting go of control is hard for me. It’s funny because I tell my clients all of the time that the unknown is where the magic is and to above all else, trust in life, yet I grapple with this concept myself. Look, if we are not growing and expanding we are either shrinking or staying the same. I think I found my voice this year. I am more able to speak my truth in all areas; spiritually, musically and politically. Lots has changed for me because of it…maybe even my identity. I no longer wish to hide who I am but celebrate it, and those who wish to come for the ride are welcome, those that don’t…peace out. lol
