Meet James Miller

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful James Miller a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi James , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

I was actually a trouble maker growing up, i would put soo much effort into getting in trouble i always said to myself if i could put this much effort into something legit i could got i the moon and then my first son was produced and it changed my life forever. I immediately changed my focus and started heading in the right direction

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I started my first business out of passion and it went great but i learned very quickly that not all passion based businesses make enough money to take you to the next level so i started looking into the most profitable businesses i could start in the place i wanted to be. Now i live in Sarasota florida and own 5 businesses including 4 jet ski rental businesses and a pool service company. Ironically my main jet ski company is called next level jet ski rentals.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Three qualities that were most impactful i would have to say my work ethic was number 1 for sure. My ability to hyper focus on what i was doing and not slow down even when things were very rough at one point i was actually homeless sleeping in a room inside my gym because i wasn’t making enough money yet. And the last but definitely more important than most is my customer service, no matter what I treat my customers as family and close friends and that in itself goes wayy further than most things people just want to be treated as people and they want to know that they are important.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

My wife is by far the reason i have made it this far. She has supported me and worked hard right by my side through everything while taking care of our babies most of the time. She is definitely the MVP!
