Meet James Vanterpool

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to James Vanterpool. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi James , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

I grew up with my Dad being in the Navy for 23 years he always instilled in me working hard and working consistently at a very early age. I get my passion for dreaming big and chasing my goals from my mother. Her dream was to become a Broadway dancer she is from Cleveland but moved to LA and New York to pursue her dream. She realized it wasn’t for her but she pursued her dream.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I sell residential real estate in Virginia. I always wanted to be in the sales business. I love the successes of selling and learn from my failures. I love building relationships with current and future clients. Through growing my sales business I’ve been fortunate to invest in real estate. I own a townhouse. I’m part of an ownership group where we purchased a office building in the middle of COVID and an investor in apartment complex.

The reason I wanted to be the sales business was to be able to invest in real estate and eventually the sports business. I noticed every sports owner was in sales and they invested in real estate and stock market and then they bought a sports team. I wanted to standout more as a real estate agent. I said to myself what if I was able to invest in a sports team now that would separate me from everyone. I did my research and noticed I’m not in a position to invest in a major league sports team but there were opportunities in the minor league. So after networking and doing research I was able to invest in a sports team in Springfield, Illinois. The baseball team is Springfield Lucky Horseshoes.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

1. Stay positive, I’m always reading books and positive podcast and business podcast. I can’t control people actions but I can control my actions and most important my mindset.

2. Perservance: the steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.
John Maxwell talks about having a word that describes you and keep it with you. I have this word with me all the time

3. Business is the ultimate sport. “Mark Cuban”
There’s no offseason in business, you have everyday to make an impact and push yourself forward, failures and setbacks are part of the journey, but tomorrow is another day.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

I’m always working to grow my relationships whether is business, its good push each other. I’m working on starting a podcast and would to learn from others and also have them on as a guest. Or I would love to be on someone podcast as well. The difference between a contract and contact is the R and that’s for relationships
