Legally blind due to Retinitis Pigmentosa, he faced daily obstacles that turned routine tasks into battles. A stroke in 2022 made those battles even harder, stripping away his sense of control. And when his marriage crumbled, leaving him in a Motel 6 with nowhere to turn, the weight of isolation threatened to break him.
But DJ G-Me wasn’t built to fold.
Music had always been his refuge, a space where vision didn’t matter, only feeling. The beat, the rhythm, the energy of the crowd, those were things he could still grasp, still command.
He realized that purpose isn’t about what’s lost; it’s about what still burns inside you. His passion for sound, for creating moments, for bringing people together,, that was his way forward.

His journey wasn’t a straight line, it was a maze of setbacks, doubt, and nights that stretched into mornings with nothing but determination and an old drum machine to keep him going.
He started out battling more than just beats, he fought against the weight of expectation, the critics who said independent artistry had no place, and the obstacles that seemed tailor, made to halt his progress.

Reflecting on my journey, three qualities have empowered me to overcome adversity, self-confidence, a creative mind, and an unwavering commitment to never quit, regardless of the challenges I faced.
My best advice is to stay true to yourself and consistently do what is right, no matter the obstacles. Most importantly, embrace the grind and pursue your passions without fear or concern about society’s opinions.
