Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jami Dennis. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Jami , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
Resilience is woven into the fabric of who I am. Growing up on the plains, resilience wasn’t something we talked about…it was simply expected. It’s rooted in the lessons my family has passed down. My grandparents were entrepreneurs, who owned and operated small businesses to support their families, and my parents worked equally hard to create their own thriving careers. They modeled what grit and determination looks like in everyday life. I believe that hard work eventually pays off. I believe to be successful you have to have the courage to take risks. And maybe most importantly, I believe challenges are inevitable. When you fall down, get up, dust yourself off, and keep moving forward. Resilience isn’t the absence of challenges or failure, it’s how you handle them that defines who you are and where you’ll go in life.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’ve always been passionate about helping women and children not only succeed but thrive – a passion that was fueled during my time as a Women’s Studies major at CU Boulder (Go Buffs!). From the start, I knew I wanted to build a career that would have a meaningful impact on their lives. I learned early on that childcare is one of the most critical factors in supporting parents’ ability to stay in the workforce, especially mothers, and that’s where ABC comes in.
At ABC Nannies & Domestics, Inc. our mission is simple yet profound – we make life easier for families by connecting them with exceptional newborn care specialists, nannies, and household staff. We’re not just filling jobs; we curate partnerships between families and talented professionals who bring care, compassion, and expertise into homes. What excites me most, even after more than 20 years, is the tangible difference we make. Each family we assist gets back precious time to focus on what truly matters – whether that’s advancing their careers, spending quality time together, or simply finding balance in their day-to-day lives. I’m proud of the role we play in helping families thrive in Colorado, Arizona and beyond.
Looking ahead, I’m excited about several new initiatives we have in the works, including expanding our services to meet the growing demand for specialized household roles and launching new programs aimed at supporting working parents as they navigate transitions. At the heart of everything we do is a commitment to empowering families and the dedicated professionals who support them. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for ABC Nannies & Domestics!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, I think the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey have been grit, authenticity, and the ability to foster meaningful relationships with others. To me, grit is the ability to continue to work towards your goals and maintain an optimistic outlook, even in the face of challenges, setback and failures. Life is full of them, but the difference between success and failure is simply the ability to keep going when things get hard.
Second, I believe being authentically who I am has helped me tremendously. A good friend called me a “heart-centered” person, and it really resonated with me. I have a genuine desire to create meaningful connections and make a positive impact, both in my personal and professional life. I live and lead from an honest place – with empathy and compassion – has helped build trust and loyalty in all areas of my life.
Finally, I believe a fulfilling, successful life is built on strong connections: with clients, employees, colleagues, friends and family. I’ve made the conscious effort to surrounded myself with amazing people whose core values are aligned with my own. And I take time to nurture those relationships. Strong connections with others has had a huge impact on the trajectory of my life.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Yes, we’re eager to collaborate with organizations that share our mission of supporting families through all stages of life in the Colorado and Arizona metro areas.
A primary focus for ABC Nannies & Domestics, Inc. is partnering with hospitals’ Postpartum Departments, Birth Doulas and Lactation Consultants. Many parents face challenges during the first few weeks and months after bringing their little one(s) home, especially if they’re parents of multiples or are recovering from a difficult birth. Our pre-screened, trained and experienced night nannies (aka night nurses) and Newborn Care Specialists provide round-the-clock, 24/7 support or overnight care, helping families experience a smooth adjustment to life at home.
We also love collaborating with local daycare and childcare centers to offer families on their waitlist professional, short-term nanny care. It’s a win-win: families get the care they need, and centers can reduce strain by providing clients a trusted solution until a permanent spot becomes available. Additionally, families with older children often struggle to juggle busy work and school schedules. ABC’s family and personal assistants help parents manage everything from school pickups to errands to daily household tasks, allowing them to focus on what matters most. Partnering with local schools can help us reach these families and provide support.
Lastly, family offices who manage staffing for HNW clients can benefit from our expertise. Our team will streamline the staffing process by leveraging our extensive candidate pool and years of experience placing staff in private households. We make finding and hiring professional employees – nannies, housekeepers, private chefs, household managers and more – quick and simple.
