Meet Jamie Bajgert

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jamie Bajgert. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Jamie, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

I think everyone deals with imposter syndrome at some point, especially as business owners. When I first started my marketing business years ago, I constantly questioned whether I could actually do it. Could I really run a business? Would I be successful?

The key for me was to just take action, keep moving forward. I learned that progress is more important than perfection. The more I did, the more I learned, and yes, sometimes I failed. But failing is part of the process, and as long as you learn from those mistakes, you’re always growing.

Whenever self-doubt creeps in, I try to reframe those negative thoughts. I ask myself, “Has anything bad actually happened, or am I just imagining the worst?” And then I flip the script: “What if everything goes well instead?”

Another thing that helped was taking time to celebrate small wins. Even little victories build confidence over time and remind me that I’m making progress, even when things feel tough.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I was in corporate marketing for 15 years and enjoyed it—there’s something about the mix of creativity and problem-solving that always kept me excited. But when the pandemic hit, I found myself thinking, “Is this it? What else can I do to stretch my skills?” So, I decided to take a course to dive deeper into digital marketing, an area I hadn’t really explored in my day job.

That course? It also had this whole section on how to start your own business, and something just clicked. I’ve always wanted to help people, and I’ve always loved marketing. The idea of combining those two? I was pumped! That’s how Uniquely You Marketing was born. Now, I get to help business owners grow with personalized marketing strategies that actually work for their business.

Owning my own business has been so rewarding that I’m now on a mission to help other women do the same. So, I’m working on a new step-by-step program to help women start their own businesses or passion projects. It’s going to be all about finding your side hustle superpower, and I can’t wait to share it!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

*Start Small, But Start! Putting yourself out there can feel scary at first, but the more you do it, the easier it becomes. Every step outside your comfort zone is a win in itself. (and celebrate those wins!) Don’t wait for the “perfect moment” because there isn’t one—just start.

*Failing is Learning. Failure is just a part of life —it’s a teacher. Some of the most valuable lessons come from the mistakes we make. Every misstep gets you closer to where you need to be, as long as you keep learning from them.

*Keep Moving Forward! It’s not about being perfect; it’s about making progress. Resilience is your best friend as a business owner. No matter what happens, keep pushing forward, and soon enough, you’ll look back and see how far you’ve come.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
