Meet Jamie Lynn Cross

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jamie Lynn Cross. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Jamie Lynn, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

I’ve always been curious about the world around me, and that’s fueled my creativity. I love trying all sorts of mediums, but film photography really clicked for me in high school. When I picked it up again, I knew I couldn’t put it back down. I love the tactile feeling of film cameras, and the history behind them.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m a photographer working primarily with film and analog cameras in South Central PA. I try and capture the sacred in the everyday, whether that’s the details of a home or the warmth of a person’s spirit.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I have a wide range of interests, and that’s fueled my inspiration. Learning different mediums and crafts gave me a wide range of tools for problem solving. I feel like I’m able to analyze and approach things with different perspectives. My time in the service industry has helped me gain a sense of hospitality with working with clients. My lifelong love of nature has taught me to appreciate the world around me. My advice would be to appreciate where you are in your journey, and never stop being a student. Be open to new and old experiences, and lift up the people in your community who inspire you and keep you on your path.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I wholeheartedly believe that beautiful things happen when community and creativity go hand in hand. I just recently finished up my first portrait session, so getting more models in front of my lens would be great. I’d also love to connect with more analog photographers, be it a film swap or double exposing a roll. Lastly, connecting with painters, potters, poets, illustrators, musicians, etc. would be ideal as well. I’d love to brainstorm zine ideas, and we can learn so much from artists that practice different crafts than our own.

If you’re down for any of this, you can shoot me an email via my website, or DM me on Instagram.
