We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jamie Ramirez a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jamie , you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?
Our generosity comes from a deep belief in the power of kindness and empathy, especially in a world where so many people are facing silent struggles. Mental health is often overlooked, but it’s such a crucial part of our well-being, and we think a little kindness can make a big difference. In a world full of “no’s” and battles we don’t always see, offering a moment of care or support can shift someone’s entire day.
We also believe in the idea of good karma—when we put positive energy into the world, it has a way of coming back to us. It’s not always about expecting something in return, but about creating ripples of goodness that help uplift others, even in tough situations. After all, we never know the invisible battles someone else is fighting, and showing kindness in those moments is a way of contributing to a better, more compassionate world.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
We are two millennial besties and girl moms who decided to embark on a podcast journey to not only enjoy meaningful moments together but also create a community for others in similar situations. Our podcast embodies the ‘that’s so me’ attitude, which has allowed us to connect with incredible people and create unforgettable memories, both within our local community and with our daughters.
The heart of our podcast is about inspiring moms, women, and even dads to know it’s never too late to chase a goal, balance full-time work, study part-time, parent, and still embrace their individuality. If we can be a source of strength, encouragement, and a little fun along the way, then we’ve achieved our mission. This journey has been a labor of love, blending connection, empowerment, and joy into every episode.”
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Perseverance has been key for us—we feel like we learn something new with every episode. During tough times, we remind ourselves to stick to the motto, ‘let’s not take the fun out of it.’ Someone once told us that most people don’t make it past episode 5, and here we are wrapping up Season 1 with over 15 episodes. That’s our little reminder that we’re on the right path, even if it’s just for ourselves—but from what we’ve experienced, it’s definitely not just for us!
Our biggest piece of advice is: ‘learn as you go.’ Everyone’s journey is different, and we started with absolutely no knowledge of the podcasting industry. Networking has been such a game-changer for us. We’ve been lucky to connect with genuine people who truly want to see others win and succeed. To them, we owe so much of our progress. Surrounding ourself with supportive people and staying open to growth can make all the difference.”
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
Hannah has been our rock and the driving force behind everything we’ve accomplished. If it wasn’t for her, we’d honestly be lost. She came into our lives as a ‘little sister,’ then became our ‘producer’, and eventually took on the role of ‘manager.’, well we just call her all of the above! Even though we miss having her around because she’s off working on something big for herself, we’re so grateful for everything she’s taught us. From mic placement and lighting to recording positions and understanding what works (and what doesn’t), she’s been instrumental. Being younger, she also gave our millennial tech knowledge a much-needed upgrade! Without her guidance and support, we wouldn’t be where we are today, and we’ll always be grateful to her for that.
We also can’t stress enough how much we appreciate everyone who watches, likes, shares, and engages with our content. You are just as important to our journey. Honestly, without an audience, it would just feel like a regular phone call between the two of us—still fun, but nowhere near as rewarding! So thank you for being part of our community and helping us grow.
