Jamie, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
I am a professionally trained opera singer turned resin artist. I have to be confident when singing in front of audiences big or small. I use the same confidence when I show my resin pieces and I never doubt myself.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m a professionally trained opera singer. It was the height of the pandemic and all of my contracts were canceled. I still needed to express myself artistically. I tried a few different things, learned I couldn’t sew and knitting wasn’t fulfilling enough. I taught myself resin art and starting posting my creations on social media for fun. People started asking if they were available for purchase and that’s when a business was born.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1) Artistic. I’ve always been confident in my artistic abilities and I know thats where I excel.
2) Business driven. I have a background in luxury retail and from that, I know how to make connections with people and develop a clientele.
3) Intuitive. I love fashion and keep up with modern trends. This helps me keep my designs current and I try to notice what seems to be missing and needed in the field.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I would love to collaborate with a woodworker. I have the artistic skill but don’t have the knowledge or ability to create wooden pieces for my resin work.
