We recently connected with Jamika Jackson and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jamika, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My entrepreneurship came naturally from experiencing my parents work and provide for me as a child growing up. My mom taught me the meaning of first impressions, while my dad taught me self-independence. With them combined, Life came at an easier pace. When it came to working jobs, and/or doing hair; the speed was very diplomatic. Having the key major points to make it in the modern world was always the motivation while working on whatever makes you happy in life. With those skills, it gave me a sense of direction, while leading my family.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Specializing in all directions of the cosmetology industry; adding versatile stylist was something unexpected but also challenging for myself. Expanding my ideas and opening up new chapters was the source for myself, while having the most amazing client’s full support to express these ideas and also demonstrate what I’m capable of achieving. My brand was put together to attract the different cultures, families, even other businesses with hidden skills and talents. To be authentic and stick to your path of success that God create for you.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Communication, persuasiveness, and first impressions to myself are three qualities that I value most. I started when I was young, when it came to cosmetology. Choosing if I was going to take that route serious, was going to be my gamechanger. And with all blessings, it was one of few routes that I have seceded in. My advice to anyone on their journey in life, is to never quit. Always push forward, especially if it’s something you have always had a passion for.
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
Gaining new clients was the ideal growth sprout. Being able to satisfy their needs and leaving them in awe. I’m a client pleaser, I believe in backtracking and catering to my clients. Within the past 12 months, I have been able to advance in my work ethics when it comes to being an entrepreneur. And filling in the areas, that needs most focus on.
