We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jamila Bell a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Jamila , thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?
As a woman-owned business who started this at a young age. I have learned to embrace my uniqueness and use it as a source of strength. Being the only one in the room who looks like me has taught me the importance of self-confidence and resilience. I have learned to trust my abilities, voice my opinions, and stand tall in the face of challenges. I have built a strong network of like-minded individuals who support and uplift me, and I continuously seek opportunities for growth and learning. I refuse to let the lack of representation hold me back; instead, I see it as an opportunity to pave the way for others. I am determined to break barriers, shatter glass ceilings, and inspire future generations of women entrepreneurs in the travel industry.

As a entrepreneur in the travel industry, And CEO of a travel blog and travel booking agency that focuses on promoting luxury hotels and bucket list experiences around the globe. What I find most exciting and special about my work is the opportunity to inspire and help others create unforgettable travel experiences. Through my brand, I aim to showcase the beauty of different destinations, curate unique itineraries, and provide personalized recommendations to travelers seeking luxury and adventure. I am passionate about connecting people with their dream destinations and ensuring they have access to exceptional accommodations and experiences. In terms of new developments, we are constantly expanding our network of luxury hotels and partnering with exclusive travel providers to offer our clients even more extraordinary options. We also have exciting events and collaborations in the pipeline, so stay tuned for more incredible travel opportunities with our brand.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back on my journey as a travel entrepreneur and CEO of a luxury travel blog and agency, I believe that three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge have been most impactful. Firstly, resilience has been crucial. The travel industry can be unpredictable and challenging, but staying resilient in the face of setbacks and adapting to change has allowed me to navigate through difficult times and emerge stronger. Secondly, a deep understanding of customer needs and preferences has been invaluable. By truly listening to my audience and anticipating their desires, I have been able to curate exceptional travel experiences that exceed expectations. Lastly, building strong relationships and networks within the industry has been instrumental in my success. Collaborating with like-minded individuals, forming partnerships, and seeking mentorship has opened doors and provided invaluable guidance.

For those who are early in their journey, my advice is to focus on developing these qualities, skills, and areas of knowledge. Cultivate resilience by embracing challenges as opportunities for growth and learning. Invest time in understanding your target audience deeply, their desires, and pain points, to create tailored solutions. Lastly, actively seek out opportunities to connect with others in your industry, attend conferences, join professional networks, and build relationships that can support and propel your journey forward. Remember, success in the travel industry requires a combination of passion, adaptability, and a genuine commitment to delivering exceptional experiences. Stay true to your vision, continuously learn and improve, and never underestimate the power of building meaningful connections.
