Meet Jamilah Conway

We recently connected with Jamilah Conway and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamilah, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

That’s a great question. I get my work ethic skills from being in College. In my undergrad years I was ahead in most classes when it came to school work etc. As a new college student you have to learn how to prioritize, be consistent and move at a somewhat of a high pace because you have to do a lot on your own being independent away from home. Between classes, meetings and studying I always had an agenda on what needs to be taken care of before I have any fun during the weekends. Being in the library for long periods of time helped me to get a lot of things done without distractions.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am a multi business owner, self published author, brand ambassador for major companies, designer and an art dealer. I’ve been in the Health and Wellness Industry for over 18+ yrs with over 19 certifications in nutrition and fitness. I’ve wrote over 5 freestyle poetry books independently. I have custom designed a lot of health and wellness products for those who enjoy yoga, golf, pickleball and more. Recently, I launched a new JCXSHRED LLC journal collection for those who find journaling interesting. During someone’s health and wellness journey, these hardback journals help release stress and help develop a positive mindset. One of the journals is about not making excuses and the other is for positive affirmations only. Your mental health is just as important as your physical health.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

1) Consistency: Being consistent with your career will always pay off. A lot of people start but never continue to improve. Rather it be educationally or career progression it’s important to keep your mind sharp and always willing to learn something new to improve your marketing skills, your resume, and your educational experience.

2) Taking Risks: A lot of people might look at this one as a red flag but to me I find it important because as a business owner you have to learn to earn. With this I’m saying to always do your research on the person(s)/company(s) before furthering your decision if it’s a potential partnership or expanding your horizon in your career. Make sure that what you love to do is always aligned with what is offered.

3) Educate Yourself: Keep getting certifications in your field of study, find zoom call events that align with what you are developing, surround yourself with like minded people that actually want to see you win, find courses to get certifications that will enhance your career skills etc. Education has many advantages and benefits and it’s important to keep going even if it’s a book that you bought from the store that can enhance your skill level; read it, highlight the important parts and educate those who are around you and in your community.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

The book that played an important role in my development would be my very first book I wrote titled “All Of Me: It’s Only The Beginning.” While putting my first book together I was able to be my full self, express my thoughts and feelings on a piece of paper that most people probably couldn’t say out loud. I wrote this book when I was regaining my peace of mind that helped me write more books after. This book helped me also regain a sense of confidence because for a while it faded and I needed an outlet to let everyone hear and see that I’m not perfect but I know how to write a dam good book expressing how I overcame messed up environments while finding myself again.
