Meet Jamir Smith

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jamir Smith. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Jamir, so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?
I learned at an early age that I would always stand out, not because of how I looked and or spoke, but because of the positive energy I bring into a room. It made me become successful but also build relationships with others in the room who had the same confidence.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am the host of The JamirSmithShow, a platform that provides a space for creatives to tell their stories in addition to providing them their flowers for the work they have done in their perspective industries. Our show just got picked up by an amazing network call TAAN TV, where there is a Global Feel with a Local Reach.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
It’s interesting how our lives have nuggets that are impactful within our personal journeys. Three that have been important to me have been staying focused on my goals, building relationships with people that help push your passion, and staying consistent/ authentic in my process. My advice for people beginning their journey is to write down your goals, put in the real work and stay professional.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
They type of people we look for to interview for the show is someone that has a story. Someone who can speak on their goals, learning lessons growing up and aligning their stories with others that are experiencing the same creative journey.
