We were lucky to catch up with Jammie Jackson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Jammie with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I get my work ethic from both my parents Brenda and Nathaniel King. They are Georgia and Flordia natives and believed in God and working hard in life despite how people may treat you. They both worked to provide for all of us and never gave up during hard times.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I started my company JammieJ Entertainment LLC in 2023 all on faith that I will be successful as a standup comedian. I was nervous at first but the more I stepped on stage and the love and support I got was unreal. So my saying is Dafuq lol which is not a curse word spelled but you know what I’m saying lol.. I made a chain with it and shirts and boy do my merchandise sellout. I’m being true to me and standing on my talent the way I want the world to see me as me and nobody else . It’s not always easy to make strangers laugh which is why I pray before I get on anybody stage and I also do just get on any stage if it’s not for me . I talk and joke about things people can relate too
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
My advice is to never give up on your hopes and dreams no matter what people say or think. People will always have assumptions and opinions.,. With that go let your light shine because you never know who watching and always give it your best and keep God 1st in all you do. I get many no’s but it just make me push and work harder. I self promote as a single mother even yes free resources such as my local library to print my materials. Just stay focused and keep pushing.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
My parents raised me with love and respect . They taught my life lessons and morals and values the southern way. We moved to Cincinnati when I was 6 years old but that southern hospitality stayed in my upbringing .. yes it was tough being raised in the city but my parents made sure we had discipline in our lives and I’m forever grateful for both my parents . The love and support they gave me and my siblings is unmatched.
