We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Janaina Coimbra a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Janaina, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My work ethic is deeply rooted in the purpose behind everything I do: transforming lives through organization. I’ve learned that our surroundings have a powerful effect on our minds, our mood, and even our relationships. When I organize a space, I’m not just tidying up — I’m creating well-being, promoting clarity, and helping people regain control of their environment.
The discipline, attention to detail, and dedication I bring to every project come from a deep respect for each client’s story and lifestyle. For me, organizing goes far beyond folding clothes or labeling boxes — it’s an act of care and empathy.
Clarity begins where clutter ends.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m Janaina Coimbra, and alongside my talented business partner Fabi Pontes, an interior designer with a sharp eye for spatial harmony and aesthetics, we co-founded J&F Organize — a brand dedicated to transforming spaces and improving lives through intentional organization and thoughtful design.
With my background in accounting, visual merchandising, and fashion design, and Fabi’s expertise in interior design, we blend function, beauty, and lifestyle in everything we do. What makes J&F Organize truly special is our ability to see beyond the clutter — we listen, understand, and create personalized systems that bring peace and purpose to our clients’ everyday routines.
Whether we’re organizing a family home, designing a walk-in closet, or optimizing a creative workspace, our goal is always the same: to deliver environments that are practical, elegant, and aligned with our clients’ unique rhythms..
We believe that a well-organized space can shift energy, mindset, and even relationships.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, I’d say the three most impactful elements in my journey have been:
1. Empathy
Organization is deeply personal. Understanding that every client has a unique story, emotional connection to their space, and different challenges has been essential. Empathy allows you to serve with compassion, not judgment — and that builds trust.
Advice: Listen more than you speak. Be curious, not critical. The more you understand people, the more effective and transformative your work becomes.
2. Systems Thinking
As a professional organizer (and former accountant), the ability to see structure where others see chaos has been a superpower. Knowing how to break down a problem, create logical systems, and streamline routines adds long-term value to every project.
Advice: Study how systems work — whether in business, home life, or nature. Learn to simplify without losing functionality. Tools like time management, workflow mapping, or inventory tracking can be game-changers.
3. Creative Vision
Working alongside my business partner Fabi Pontes, an interior designer, I’ve learned how much design thinking and aesthetics elevate the organizing process. Organization isn’t just functional — it can also be beautiful and inspiring.
Advice: Don’t be afraid to blend creativity with structure. Stay open to trends, color theory, spatial design — and always aim to make spaces both practical and joyful.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
