Meet Janay Stevens

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Janay Stevens. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Janay , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I believe I found my purpose through a combination of my personal experiences and my strong desire to positively impact others. My background as a certified youth mentor, school restorative practice coordinator, behavior specialist, and life coach gave me the chance to work closely with individuals facing various challenges.

Through my interactions with youth and community members, I realized the significance of resilience, perseverance, and empowerment in overcoming obstacles and achieving personal growth. This realization, combined with my own journey and values, motivated me to establish P.U.S.H. (Pray Until Something Happens) with Janay as a platform to inspire and uplift others.

By utilizing my skills, passion, and dedication to youth mentorship and community empowerment, I was able to align my talents with my purpose. Through P.U.S.H. with Janay and P.U.S.H. Sistas, I have created a space where individuals can find motivation to reach their goals and be part of a supportive community where sharing stories, providing mutual support, and working towards a brighter future are encouraged.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back on my journey, the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful were:

Resilience allowed me to navigate through challenges and setbacks without losing sight of my goals. It gave me the strength to persevere and continue pushing forward, even when things seemed difficult.

Empathy helped me connect with others on a deeper level, understand their needs, and provide meaningful support. It fostered a sense of community and trust, which is essential in any leadership or mentoring role.

My commitment to continuous learning enabled me to stay informed, adapt to new situations, and continually improve my skills and knowledge. It kept me open to new ideas and approaches, which is crucial for growth and innovation.

The advice I will prove is to set clear goals- Define your short-term and long-term objectives. Having clear goals will give you direction and motivation.

Network and Build Relationships- Connect with mentors, peers, and professionals in your field. Networking can provide valuable insights, support, and opportunities for collaboration.

Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and take risks.

Everyone’s journey is unique, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach to success. Stay true to your values, remain flexible, and be open to learning and growth along the way.
