We recently connected with Janet Orozco Feller and have shared our conversation below.
Janet , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from my faith in God and the love of my family. I’ve learned to trust that everything — the good, the hard, and even the things that don’t make sense right away — is being woven together by God for my good. That belief gives me peace and reminds me that I’m never walking this journey alone.
My family is my biggest source of strength. They’re the reason I keep pushing forward when things get tough. Their love and support remind me why I started and who I’m doing it for. And honestly, entrepreneurship has only deepened that faith — it’s taught me to see every ‘no’ as redirection and every challenge as part of a bigger plan. Between my faith and my family, I’ve learned that resilience isn’t about never falling — it’s about getting up with grace and purpose every time.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit. Over the years, I’ve owned several businesses — from an electrical contracting company and construction consulting firm to a merchant services business. Each one taught me something new about resilience, leadership, and the power of relationships. Today, my passion is helping other small business owners succeed. I do that through my work as a business credit consultant and business loan broker, guiding entrepreneurs on how to become truly bankable and position their companies for growth.
I also host a Spanish-language podcast with my co-host, Marlon Hernández. Together, we shine a light on entrepreneurs and their journeys — talking about business, finance, and real-life lessons, always with humor and authenticity. Our goal is to inspire and empower others to build stronger, smarter businesses.
On a personal note, I’m a proud mom to an amazing adult son who lives in New Jersey and is the joy of my life. I’m also deeply grateful to still have my parents, who have always been my foundation. Two years ago, I moved from New York to South Florida, and I’ve truly fallen in love with the community I’m building here. It’s been such a blessing to connect with people who share the same drive to grow, give back, and live with purpose.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three qualities that have shaped my journey most are faith, adaptability, and relationship-building.
My faith in God has always been my anchor. It’s what keeps me steady when things don’t go as planned and reminds me that every challenge has purpose.
Adaptability has allowed me to grow through every season — from construction to finance — and to keep learning and reinventing myself along the way.
And relationships have been everything. Business is truly about people, and every connection can open a door you didn’t expect. My advice for anyone starting out is: stay grounded in faith, stay flexible, and build genuine relationships. The rest will fall into place.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I start to feel overwhelmed, I pause — and I pray. Taking a few quiet moments to talk to God helps me recentre and remember that I don’t have to carry everything on my own. I also turn to meditation; it helps me quiet my thoughts and listen instead of react.
My advice is simple: give yourself permission to slow down. Step away from the noise, breathe, pray, and remind yourself that peace is always available if you make space for it. The world moves fast, but clarity usually comes in stillness.
