Meet Janice Nelson

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Janice Nelson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Janice, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

I developed it by knowing “who I am”. Having confidence and knowing your worth comes over time. Being the youngest of six, I played dress-up and was told I was beautiful, which made size irrelevant to me,

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

A Summary of me and what I do!

Outside of collaborating with our models and at the studio, I work as a customer service representative. With over 12 years of experience in this field across several companies, I have developed a strong passion for helping others. Prior to this, I worked in the medical field, where I continued to nurture my desire to assist those in need.

My upbringing has played a significant role in shaping my values, as my mother would often remind me that I am the rock of the family and that my family needs me.

Consequently, I was
raised to prioritize the well-being of my loved ones and extend a helping hand to those who require it. My faith is an integral part of my life, and I find solace in attending church services. God has been my steadfast companion throughout my journey, providing guidance and support during both challenging and triumphant times.

I attribute my ability to navigate life’s complexities to God’s presence in my life. Notably, a client I worked with requested my assistance with her daughter’s graduation pictures and party organization.

This opportunity has led to my involvement in coordinating multiple events and providing photography services.

Our clients have graciously referred to us as a ‘one-stop shop.’ I believe our commitment to ensuring client satisfaction and model success sets us apart.

Ultimately, I attribute my unique value proposition to remaining authentic and true to myself, as God created me to be.

This year has been truly exceptional. Another highlight of mine is being published in Fashion Illustrated Magazine. Moreover, I serve as a brand ambassador for two distinguished clothing brands, Bpapparel and Just Beautiful clothing.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Always pace yourself and work with passion, pride and dignity

Maintain a steady pace and approach your work with passion, pride, and dignity. Always recall the motivation behind establishing your business, ensuring it aligns with your personal aspirations and genuine passion. Remain authentic and take pride in your professional endeavors.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

I would have to say my faith, kids, grandkids, family, and business partner. We established our business, drawing inspiration from my youngest daughter Diamond’s modeling career. As her manager and mother, her international modeling success enabled us to make a positive impact on others, culminating in the founding of Butterfly Blossom Modeling Agency and S7Z Studios.
