Meet Jaquila Roberson

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jaquila Roberson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Jaquila , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Discovering my purpose has been quite the journey, but God recently gave me a really interesting confirmation. I had been sitting with Him in prayer literally pouring my heart out for Him to reveal to me what my purpose was. I didn’t want it to be something I made up but instead something that had come directly from Him. At the end of me speaking I sit and awaited a response (because prayer is a two way form of communication). Whoa and behold God responded by telling me to read my journals. Initially I was confused because I have so many. After going through a few I finally picked up one that has “Master Plan” on the front! As I read the first journal entry I could rememebr exactly how I felt when I wrote it. It took me back to a rough patch after a divorce. There it is, in my own handwriting: “Give me the confidence and courage to walk in my truth so that it may help encourage and inspire someone else!” It hit me like a lightning bolt because that’s exactly what I love doing. It’s the heart of my podcast, book, and business—helping people to find their own truth and inspiration despite what they had to deal with in life beit a divorce, promiscuity, aimlessly seeking God, rejection etc.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I wear a few hats – author, lifestyle podcast host, and owner of Blessed Essence a self-care Christian based company.

Right now I am the author of one book, “Prayer Recipes: Spirit-led strategic prayers curated with you in mind.” it was created for those who may not always know what to pray or even how to pray. Each page has a conversation piece that expresses the need for the following prayer, along with scripture to support and meditate on. Often times we pray but don’t wait for a response so following each prayer is a journal space to jot down any response the woman may receive from God. The topics of prayer range from being in alignment with God, to covering our mental health, and a request for wisdom.

My podcast, Conversations of Truth is a lifestyle podcast for both men and women that provides insight on life’s challenges, how to overcome obstacles and address things that may seem taboo in most circles. One of our most popular episodes is “Changes” where I discuss changes that landed me into the military and others that ran me into the arms of God. I’ve also had series discussing love, lust and compromise. It speaks about how to recognize love from lust and not compromising your relationship with God for the sake of pleasing your flesh with sexual immorality. Although it isn’t popular, celibacy is cool! In the latest series I discussed plenty of things prayer. Diving into the journey of my first book, the power of prayer and how transformative it is when we are intentional.

What keeps me going is the variety of ways I can make an impact. I get to uplift and inspire women while also sharing the love and teachings of Jesus. What’s really cool is how my audience has seen me grow alongside my faith journey. When I started my podcast, I never imagined it would become such a spiritual journey too. But as I deepened my relationship with God, He started playing a bigger role in the show.

Then came a big moment last year when I felt called to write my first book, “Prayer Recipes: Spirit-led, strategic prayers curated with you in mind.” Facing my fear head-on was the toughest part. I battled feelings of not being good enough and worrying if anyone would even want to read it. But I realized these prayers weren’t just from me; they were inspired by the Spirit. God had me crafting prayers that weren’t about me for at least two months. Now, you can find it on Amazon and my website, blessedessencelux.com.

Honestly, the most exciting part of it all is this journey with God, letting Him guide every step.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Reflecting on my journey, I’d say three things made the biggest difference: my faith, confidence, and understanding of my purpose.

For those just starting out, my advice is to really know yourself and have the confidence to be genuine. Consistency and positive self-talk are key. You’ve got to deliberately work on growing and learning without letting fear hold you back.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
