We recently connected with Jared Sanders and have shared our conversation below.
Jared, so great to have you with us today. There are so many topics we want to ask you about, but perhaps the one we can start with is burnout. How have you overcome or avoided burnout?
Here’s the thing: as much as we’d like to, it’s impossible to completely dodge burnout. For me, it’s all about family time. My family is the Northstar. Everything that I do must equate to how it’s serving that purpose. Escaping or attempting to avoid burnout is a bit like finding your groove in life. You’ve got your work hustle, of course, but remember to carve out time for family and, most importantly, yourself. Hanging out with your loved ones isn’t just a blast; it’s a supercharge for your mind, body, and spirit. It’s a reminder that life isn’t all about the daily grind. And remember to sprinkle in some mini-breaks during your workday. Those short pauses can work some serious magic on your creativity and overall well-being. Taking mini breaks is a fantastic way to make your workday more enjoyable. These 15-minute mental breaks can be a great way to rest your mind and recharge your batteries. Taking that time off lets you hit the reset button and return to work with a rejuvenated mind. So, strike that balance between work, savoring those family moments, and savoring those well-deserved breaks – it’s my secret sauce to dodge burnout and keep life absolutely balanced.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back on my journey, it has taught me that effective communication, the pursuit of excellence, and the art of asking questions are three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that have had a profound impact. These qualities are not static; they evolve and grow as you do. Embrace them, and they will serve as guiding principles on your path to success.
1. Effective Communication with People: Throughout my journey, I’ve learned that effective communication with people is a cornerstone skill. No matter what you’re passionate about or what field you’re in, being able to convey your thoughts, ideas, and needs clearly is essential. Moreover, listening actively and empathetically to others is equally important. Communication bridges gaps, resolves conflicts, and fosters collaboration. It’s a skill that continues to evolve, and there’s no such thing as perfect communication. It’s an ongoing process of improvement and adaptation.
2. The Pursuit of Excellence: Passion is a powerful driving force, but it must be complemented by the pursuit of excellence. No matter how much you love something, there’s always room for improvement. Finding an expert in the area you’re passionate about and observing them in the field can provide invaluable insights. Learning from those who have already mastered a craft is a shortcut to excellence. However, it’s important to remember that perfection is elusive. Instead, strive for continuous growth and refinement in your chosen field.
3. The Art of Asking Questions: Curiosity is a trait that can fuel your journey towards success. Never stop asking questions. It’s through questions that you gain deeper insights, challenge assumptions, and uncover new possibilities. Whether you’re learning from experts or simply exploring a new area, the ability to ask meaningful questions is a skill that can open doors and lead to innovation. Remember that in the quest for knowledge and improvement, there’s no such thing as a “dumb” question.
If you’re just starting out on your journey to improve your skills, here are a few tips for you! First of all, communication is key. Make sure you’re really listening to the people around you, and don’t be afraid to ask for feedback. And don’t forget about non-verbal communication, too! Second, aim for excellence. Set specific goals for yourself, learn from people who know what they’re doing, and don’t be discouraged by failure. It’s all part of the process. Lastly, asking questions is a great way to expand your knowledge. Curiosity is a good thing! And if you’re not sure where to start, try asking a mentor for guidance. Remember, personal growth takes time, so be patient with yourself!
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was instilling in me the values of working harder than anyone else, staying humble, and never stopping learning. These principles have shaped my character and guided my actions throughout my life. They emphasized that success can come from putting in more effort and dedication than others, remaining grounded no matter how successful I become, and continuously seeking knowledge and new experiences. These principles have shaped my character and guided my actions throughout my life, helping me achieve academic, career, and personal growth.
