Meet Jared Scott

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jared Scott. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Jared , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve felt a deep sense of purpose rooted in people. I’ve always known that connecting with others and making a positive impact would be central to my life’s work. This understanding has evolved over the years, but it first began to take shape when I was just 13 years old. It was then that I realized the barbershop could be more than just a place for haircuts—it could be a vehicle for meaningful connection, personal growth, and community impact.

The barbershop became the space where I could combine my natural determination, consistency, and dependability with my calling to serve others. These qualities have always been foundational to who I am, and I’ve worked to use them in ways that uplift and empower those around me.

As I’ve grown, my purpose has become even clearer. My love for people, guided by the principles of my Christian faith, continues to shape how I show up every day. I see the barbershop as a ministry of sorts—a space where people feel seen, heard, and valued. Living out this purpose has been one of the most fulfilling aspects of my journey, and it’s a mission I’m committed to for the rest of my life.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

HIS Grooming is more than just a haircut—it’s a complete experience. We operate on three core pillars: customer service, professionalism, and technical ability. Many barbershops excel in one or two of these areas, but I envisioned a brand that could be exceptional in all three. At HIS Grooming, we put the customer first, ensuring they feel valued and cared for from start to finish. We honor the professionalism of the golden era of barbershops while maintaining a cutting technique that is precise, duplicable, and grounded in a systemized philosophy of grooming.

What truly makes HIS Grooming special is the versatility of our team and the breadth of our skill set. When properly trained, our barbers can provide exceptional service to anyone—no matter their hair type, texture, or style. This inclusivity is at the heart of our motto: Any type. Any texture. Every style. We pride ourselves on being full-service, offering what we call a “checkup from the neck up.” Every client receives a shampoo and conditioning for their hair and beard, which allows us to control the process from beginning to end and guarantee the highest quality results.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to bring back several beloved services from our pre-pandemic menu, including mini facials, scalp treatments, and an eclectic selection of beverages to enhance the experience. While the future is bright, we’re even more thrilled about the present moment and the opportunity to serve our clients every day. At HIS Grooming, it’s not just about cutting hair—it’s about building confidence, community, and an unforgettable experience.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The three qualities and skills that have been most impactful in my growth are confidence, knowledge of purpose, and self-discovery.

Confidence comes from knowledge. Early in my journey, I didn’t feel confident in my abilities. I’ll never forget a defining moment at a fashion show. At the time, I was proficient in a few haircut styles, but the models coming in needed styles I wasn’t yet skilled at. I remember trying to blend into the back of the room, hoping no one would choose me to work on their model. That experience lit a fire in me. I vowed that I would never again find myself in that position. From that day forward, I poured myself into learning—studying every hair type, every texture, and every style. I practiced tirelessly, and over time, that knowledge transformed into the confidence I carry with me today.

Knowledge of purpose is equally vital. For me, it’s about knowing why I’m here and what I’m meant to do. Within my Christian worldview, I believe that our purpose can be known. It’s not just something to wonder about; it’s something to pursue with action and faith. I believe my purpose is rooted in the sacrificial love of Jesus Christ, and through that, I’ve come to understand that I have access to the Creator’s plan for my life. This journey of living out my purpose brings clarity and alignment to everything I do. Even this incredible interview is an example—I didn’t seek it out, but walking in purpose means opportunities aligned with my calling naturally fall into place.

Self-discovery is the key to authentic leadership. True leaders are not necessarily people eager to lead; rather, they are individuals deeply committed to becoming the best version of themselves. When you embrace the process of self-discovery, it brings your authentic self to the surface—even the parts that may be hard to face. This unearthing allows you to live boldly and authentically, creating a presence that draws others in. People are naturally inspired by someone who knows and lives their truth. Self-discovery is not easy, but it is essential—it transforms you into a person who isn’t afraid of what’s beneath the surface. That courage creates a unique and undeniable energy that others are drawn to, even if they can’t explain why.

These three qualities—confidence, purpose, and self-discovery—are the foundation of my journey and the driving force behind my growth. They continue to shape the way I live, lead, and serve every day.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

1. My ideal client is someone who is exceptional at what they do. I’m inspired by clients who are hard-working, focused, driven, passionate, and purpose-filled—people who take on the responsibilities of life, work, career, and family (not necessarily in that order) with class, ease, and respect. I truly believe I have the greatest clients in the world. In fact, my clients have made me a better person.

There was a time when I realized I didn’t embody the qualities of the clients I was serving. In other words, I wouldn’t have chosen myself as a client. That realization led me on a journey of growth—not just to become like my clients, but to become someone they could look up to. I wanted to be someone who could provide them with insights, resources, advice, and wisdom.

My ideal client is someone who is always working to improve themselves, never settling for excuses. They are individuals who love and respect others as much as they respect themselves and treat people the way they’d want to be treated. They take their purpose seriously, guard it with intention, and hold themselves accountable. My ideal client is someone who never stops chasing their purpose and inspires those around them to do the same.
