Meet Jared Shoup

We recently connected with Jared Shoup and have shared our conversation below.

Jared , appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?

Being a tattoo artist for over 20 years now, I can honestly say I have never felt like I’d lost my creative ability. If anything, I feel it’s improved over the years.

Art is always a very creative medium.
No matter what style of tattoo my Clients request, I’m always open and willing to execute it.

That’s the best part about being in the this industry, the ability to create art & add my spin to what is requested.

Doing tattoos daily keeps my creativity alive!

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

My Wife, Bridget & I opened “Unity Tattoo” in Mesa, Arizona on June 6th, 2024!

It has been very rewarding having the opportunity to work together to create the tattoo shop we have always dreamt of !

We have enjoyed creating a space for not only us, but other awesome artists. A place where everyone and anyone can come in and feel welcome. A no judgment , safe space, to enjoy getting the tattoo or piercing they have been wanting.

Our shop has quickly evolved and we have been quite busy with continuing to welcome clients in for their body modifications.

The tattoo artists at our shop currently are myself, (Jared Shoup) & Kieran Reese.

We also have our apprentice, Sami Foster who has been excelling quickly at her craft.

Bridget is the behind the scenes Owner. Handling the marketing, paying the bills, dealing with paperwork & keeping the website current as well.

The vibe we put out is one of a relaxing, clean, professional and friendly environment.

We want to thank our loyal clients & friends who continue to come in & book their sessions with us.

Not only serving our local community, but we also want to thank our out of town customers who travel from CA, NV, MN & IL, just to name a few.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Always remember to never give up on what it is you want in life.

Tattoos take a lot of dedication, time and practice.

Anything is possible with good ambition, and courage to follow though.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?

Our ideal clients are anyone who wants to wear their art.

I’m very diverse in my tattoo styles.

Whether it be Traditional, Black & Grey Style, Color Tattoos, Realism, Portraits to fine line … I’m comfortable doing them all.

I enjoy customizing tattoos for my clients & always welcome their ideas.

We offer free consultations and you can get in touch with us on social media (Instagram) or on our website.

With one last Friday the 13th coming up (December 13th, 2024) we will be offering discounts on tattoos!!

We will have selected flash tattoo sheets available to choose from.

Our hours will be 11 am – 7 pm that day.
Keep an eye out for more information to follow.
