We recently connected with Jasmin Chavez and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmin, appreciate you sitting with us today. Maybe we can start with a topic that we care deeply about because it’s something we’ve found really sets folks apart and can make all the difference in whether someone reaches their goals. Self discipline seems to have an outsized impact on how someone’s life plays out and so we’d love to hear about how you developed yours?
My self-discipline comes from the responsibility I feel as a business owner and the vision I have for my salon. I’m passionate about creating a space that inspires both my team and my clients. I know that only happens through consistency, leadership, and follow-through. Running a salon means showing up even when it’s hard, handling challenges with grace, and always keeping the bigger picture in mind. This mindset helps me stay grounded, even on the busiest days. My discipline is really just a reflection of the love I have for this business and the people in it.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
As a proud business owner, I run a beauty salon that’s more than just a place to get beautified—it’s a space built on culture, community, and creativity. What makes it special is the energy. From the moment you walk in, you feel seen, welcomed, and empowered. I’ve worked hard to create an environment where both clients and cosmetologists can truly thrive.
I recently expanded my salon, which has been such an exciting milestone. The growth means more chairs, more talented artists, and more room to serve our community. It’s proof that when you stay true to your vision, anything is possible.
What I love most is watching confidence come to life in our chairs-whether it’s a subtle refresh or a bold transformation. We are not just offering beauty services—we help people feel powerful, beautiful, and like the best version of themselves.
This next chapter is about more education, more opportunities for upcoming stylists, and continuing to raise the bar.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the three qualities that had the biggest impact on my journey were work ethic, relationship building and the ability to face adversity head on. I showed up early, and stayed late even when no one was watching. I made it a point to establish a bond with my clients and team members to earn their trust. Above all, I saw setbacks, self doubt, and obstacles as an opportunity to learn and grow. My advice for anyone who is early in their journey is to be willing to outwork your excuses, and practice having a “growth mindset”.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was give me unwavering support. I often say that their love gave me the freedom to take risks, because I always knew I had a safe place to land. That kind of foundation allowed me to dream big, work hard, and step into the unknown with confidence. Knowing they were behind me, no matter what, has made all the difference in my journey as a business owner and as a person.
