Meet Jasmin Haley

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jasmin Haley a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Jasmin, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?

Being the only one—or one of the few—who looked like me has been a transformative experience in my journey, both in the dental profession and as a speaker in healthcare. At that time in dentistry, I often found myself in spaces where I was the only one who looked like me in the corporate/professional speaking world, and without a mentor who could guide me through that unique experience, I had to turn inward. It meant building a well of confidence and conviction from within, trusting that the gifts I possess were divinely given and already enough. My faith became a foundation—reminding me that I was pre-qualified, even if I didn’t fit the traditional mold.

When I stepped onto the stage as a professional speaker, those same feelings resurfaced. I was entering a world where I had to be both a leader and a pioneer. There were no clear footsteps to follow, so I had to carve my own path. In doing so, I learned that my difference was my power, and my story was my strength. The ability to stand confidently in my voice and experience became my way of connecting with and inspiring others.

Being the only one in the room taught me resilience and the power of authenticity. It also showed me the importance of visibility—for myself and for others coming up in this field. It’s why I’m passionate about lifting my voice and using my platform to pave the way for others who may feel like they, too, are “the only one.” I want them to know they belong, that their gifts have value, and that they have every right to share their voice.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m Jasmin Haley, an educator and corporate trainer specializing in healthcare, communications, and leadership. My work centers on helping leaders in various industries develop the skills they need to thrive in a fast-paced and complex environment. Through leadership development training programs and capacity-building workshops, I equip professionals with the tools to communicate effectively, lead with impact, and create a positive culture within their organizations.

What excites me most about this work is seeing firsthand the transformation that can happen when professionals feel empowered with new skills and insights. Leadership is not a solo journey, and building capacity within teams strengthens both individual careers and the organization as a whole. Our programs are interactive and immersive, and we either facilitate the training directly or develop custom curriculum for organizations to deliver within their own teams. One highlight is our upcoming workshop in Atlanta, March 20-21, 2025, where participants will have the opportunity to dive deeply into the elements of leadership and communication, learning practical strategies to elevate their careers and organizations.

Beyond that, our continuing education (CE) programs are tailored to healthcare professionals who want to stay at the forefront of their industry. In healthcare, it’s crucial to remain adaptable, knowledgeable, and proactive, and our CE programs are designed to support that. Whether it’s leadership, strategic communication, or clinical expertise, our goal is to empower healthcare professionals to excel.

Our approach is rooted in the belief that growth is a continuous journey. Each program, workshop, and training session we deliver is crafted to help individuals build skills that drive both personal and professional success. I’m honored to play a role in this journey and excited to continue expanding our offerings to meet the evolving needs of leaders in healthcare and beyond.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, three qualities have been pivotal in my journey: resilience, the ability to communicate effectively, and a commitment to lifelong learning.

Resilience: In both dentistry and my work as a corporate trainer, resilience has been essential. Challenges are inevitable, and resilience allows us to navigate setbacks without losing sight of our goals. My advice to those early in their journey is to view setbacks as stepping stones. Take each challenge as an opportunity to learn, adapt, and grow stronger. Building a supportive network and practicing self-care are also key to maintaining resilience.

Effective Communication: As a speaker and trainer, communication is at the core of my work. Whether it’s connecting with an audience, training teams, or sharing a vision, communication is the bridge that enables all of it. For anyone starting out, practice is essential—seek out public speaking opportunities, develop active listening skills, and focus on clear, authentic expression. These efforts will help build confidence and trust, two foundational elements of leadership.

Commitment to Lifelong Learning: No matter how much we know, there is always more to learn. Staying curious and open to new information has allowed me to stay relevant and adaptive, especially in a rapidly evolving field like healthcare. My advice is to invest in yourself—whether that’s through formal education, mentorship, or self-study. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, pursue new skills, and continuously expand your knowledge.

For those at the start of their journey, these qualities don’t need to be mastered overnight. Embrace the process, and remember that each step forward, no matter how small, is progress.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

I’m always open to partnering or collaborating with like-minded professionals who share a passion for creating impactful change in healthcare, leadership, and education. I’m particularly interested in collaborating with organizations and individuals in healthcare, state and local government, and other entities committed to empowering leaders in their executive presence or soft skills, enhancing workplace culture, and providing high-quality, innovative training solutions. This includes healthcare companies, government agencies, dental organizations, and companies focused on leadership, communication, and wellness.

If you’re passionate about supporting professionals in building sustainable, thriving careers and are interested in creating meaningful learning experiences together, I’d love to connect. You can reach out to me directly through LinkedIn or via my website at www.legacyscaler.com. Let’s explore how we can bring our visions together to make an even greater impact!
