Meet Jasmine Alexander

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jasmine Alexander . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Jasmine , great to have you with us today and excited to have you share your wisdom with our readers. Over the years, after speaking with countless do-ers, makers, builders, entrepreneurs, artists and more we’ve noticed that the ability to take risks is central to almost all stories of triumph and so we’re really interested in hearing about your journey with risk and how you developed your risk-taking ability.
I noticed at a very young age that I Had the urge and passion to do something in the entertaining and creative space. However, I didn’t know anything about being able to take a risk, and how much that actually means in this type of industry. Once I dove into Acting more and especially filmmaking, I realize that in order to stand out in this industry or to be seen you have to take a risk. To be honest my whole career is a risk. If You choose a career in acting/ filmmaking it’s not an easy one, it’s not an easy journey, so just making that decision you are ultimately taking a risk, but as the saying goes with no risk there’s no reward.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Well I am an actress and filmmaker. I started my acting journey in officially in 2015 although acting is something I’ve always wanted to do from a very young age. I just didn’t know how to get started. I jumped in head first and took so many different routes like modeling schools and random casting calls before I realize it was a scam. I took a break and got back to it in 2015 and haven’t looked back since. I started my filmmaking journey during Covid 19. I decided hey why not try to make my own film. Since then I have completed 7 short films and currently working towards my first feature film. This journey has not been easy but it’s worth it when you get the chance to live out your dreams everyday.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I think the three most important qualities for me on this journey would be determination, patience, and passion. Just off the top of my head. Those are three things I know for a fact that has got me to where I am now. You have to have some type of passion for any career choice that you go into or you will give up. patience is something we all lack but if you want it bad enough You keep going and expect only great things in return. And determination pretty much sums it all up. you have to be determined to be successful in whatever field you choose to go into you have to be determined to get to the end and see the light no matter how hard it gets, and no matter how many no’s you hear.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
I think the person that has been the most helpful to me at this point especially in overcoming challenges would be my family. My husband has been very supportive since the moment he met me and found out I wanted to be an actor. He has grown with me during this journey And he is so patient and encouraging in those hard times that I have nobody else to turn to when this journey gets rough. I believe in any field you go into you need somebody to be very supportive of you and I have your back during rough times because it gets hard, pushing through on a passion or a goal that only you can see the light at the end of the tunnel. My husband has been able to believe in me when nobody else has. he has been through the ups and downs with me and given me the most encouraging words to get through every one of those hard times, so yes, I would say my family has been the highlight of my career because without them I wouldn’t have been as successful.
