Meet Jasmine Calvert

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jasmine Calvert a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasmine, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I guess, very early in life I realized that difficulties are inevitable. I’ve always enjoyed finding solutions to problems. I believe setbacks in life are opportunities to learn and excel. Also, I sustain a very flexible lifestyle.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I was raised in Austin Texas with a passion for business, community, and law. Currently, I am focused professionally on politics. At this time, I work for the State of Texas in a classified section. What I enjoy about my profession is I’m able to explore the legal field. In addition, I enjoy combining my education and business experience to further my career in law.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
When I look back, the three skills that were impactful in my journey were compassion, effective leadership, and out of the box thinking. I would encourage others to be themselves, never stop fighting for the things you are passionate about and the importance of education.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
The biggest area of growth for me over the past 12 months is my decorum. Transitioning from a businesswoman with a focus in fitness and health to a professional woman with a career in law and politics, several changes were required. As I learn, I apply the lessons to my life, and everyday adjustments are made.
