We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jasmine Dix. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jasmine below.
Jasmine, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Wow. Where can I begin. I will never say that I have ultimately found my purpose because I am still growing and evolving, but I can’t say that I have finally reached point in my life to where I do what I love every day. When you say you found your purpose, to me that sounds like the end of something. I have always been a storyteller at heart. Whether that is entertaining the family with my wits or performing for a family gathering as they were my first audience. My mother was saying, I always dance to the beat of my own drum. Has a little girl I would reenact movies, TV shows, and sitcoms that my grandmother and family would watch. I would do it so well that it will become a request at random points in my life to bring to life. Even my own experiences as a kid were a story to be told. To this day, my family loves to share the memories and laughs that took place. As a child actor/entertainer, I never knew that I would later find myself on a stage Doing the exact same things I saw on TV as a child. From in living color, to I Love Lucy, waiting to exhale, I was always inspired to be and do what the icons did on TV. It came so naturally. Even though dance was my first love, I would use dance as an art form of expression, until I found theater at the age of 15. My English teacher of my junior year in high school was also the debate teacher, as well as the theater teacher. She knew I danced, practiced ballet And other forms of dance, and had a special production on the rise, the
wiz. She then proceeded to ask me of my interest in the Production. Mind you, we weren’t the best of friends at first. Her and I did not see eye to eye. But it was until one day she taught transcendentalism and asked us at the end of the lesson To write down what we received from it. As I turned in my paper to her, she proceeded to cry. At this time, I thought I may have offended her or something, but it turned out to be much greater. She told me after 20+ years of teaching, even at the collegiate level, I got exactly what she was talking about and teaching. After that, the rest was history. I was found on the stage during the wiz as the yellow brick Road and the tornado. She incorporated the dance Training I possess, into the production in such a profound way. Even though I didn’t have any speaking roles, My role was major Because it sparked a flame that may have been tiny but always lit. I fell in love with the stage, the energy from the audience, and the fact that all of my gifts can live in this one place, the theatre. Now I am 15+ years in the game of theater and (Film), being an award-winning actress. I guess you can say, I kind of always knew, even though there were many detours, but it always brought me back Home to my purpose as a storyteller, an inspiration, With unshakable faith. It’s a sacrifice, and has been, but it’s worth it. The little girl in me is content with following My hearts, true nature.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Anatome Yoga, Health and Wellness, LLC is a Yoga-based Holistic organization, originated in Indianapolis, Indiana. Dedicated to cultivating local communities, empowering youth, and providing Holistic & Therapeutic support services to all. Specializing in Mentorship, Corporate Wellness, or Individual Well-being, we meet you where you are in your journey. I am also excited to celebrate being in business three years this year! During this journey, I have learned about myself, business, my niche and more. Starting off, I began teaching large classes, placing myself where I thought I SHOULD be. After a while I saw a decline in business and I had to return back to the drawing board. I went back to where and when I needed relief, restoration, ease which was Corporate America. I started my business while I was working in the Corporate world and remembered how much I needed what I now teach. I began to change the trajectory of this need and sought out to partner with different organizations around the city starting with schools, DSC agencies, and more. I was able to develop my own curriculum dedicated to the Mentorship portion and launched it with success. Now, I have solidified partnerships within the city of Indianapolis, with a reach nationally. I have members who trust me with their wellness journeys and I could not be more grateful. This journey has/is so exciting because it is forever evolving, and being able to offer wellness, peace, and safe space gives me life. Life is challenging enough and to show my clients there is a way to invite peace and informing them that wellness is a birthright. Even if it’s a 1:1 session, special event, or Corporate event, each session offers such a memorable and unique experience. The goal is to continue to expand, offer more products and services, gaining more partners and become a major advocate for Corporate wellness.
As far as the Acting World, I have a few projects coming up and a few completed. I am honored to say I now have four movies out on IMDB, producing my very first project- my documentary, and more. This year, I am diving more into film with my craft, as well as looking forward to adding to my resume. I am grateful to have built my brand as an actress and continue to make my footprint in the Arts. The most unique and special thing for me is having a place free for expression and creativity. There are no limits here in this space. It’s not too often when we have these opportunities without being judged or ridiculed. I see it as a gift to be able to tell the stories of those who cannot or choose not to share, but they can find relation and connection with Artist who bring it to life. Now expanding more into the big screen, it is my goal to evolve the resume and add some martial arts this year, in depth classes to enhance skills, and more. I am excited to tour and work with more heavy-hitting actors in the industry.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful on my journey were adaptability, Leadership, and always remaining a student to life.
The best advice I can give is to learn to listen to self and be self-guided. Far too often we allow the doubts, fears, and others to alter the sail of our own life, forgetting we are the captain of our own ships. This returns the power back to the dreamer. Now, this does NOT mean that we do not need anyone or to allow for guidance, but ultimately, YOU are going to get YOU were you need and want to be. This teaches an individual to Operate from authenticity, from within, not seeking validation or approval from outside sources. YOU GOT THIS! TRUST YOURSELF FIRST!

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
THE FOUR AGREEMENTS! This book has and still is instrumental in my growth and evolution. The entire book is a gem of course but the four agreements alone are the nuggets…
1. Be Impeccable with your word
2. Don’t take ANYTHING personally
3. Never Assume Anything
4. Always Do Your Best
These are self explanatory BUT, the nugget is learning and UNlearning all the agreements and contract you are bound to since you were born. This was the wake up call because you never really see them until you are fully ready to unpack yourself or pull back the layers of your own onion.
