Meet Jasmine Ellington

We were lucky to catch up with Jasmine Ellington recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Jasmine with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

My work ethic comes from a deep sense of purpose and the way I was raised. I was taught that when God places something in your hands, you steward it well and you don’t give up easily. I’ve also learned that real impact requires consistency, compassion, and a willingness to serve even when it’s hard.

After experiencing the loss of my daughter, my perspective on life and service deepened. It pushed me to work even harder to support families, advocate for better care, and create spaces where people feel seen, supported, and protected. My work ethic is rooted in love, faith, and the desire to leave my community better than I found it.

Every family I serve reminds me why the work matters, and that keeps me going.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am the founder of Azalia’s Way LLC, a maternal support and advocacy organization created to support families during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. My work centers around helping families feel informed, supported, and empowered throughout their birthing journey. I provide education, guidance, and resources that help families advocate for themselves while also working to bridge gaps in maternal care within our communities.

What makes this work so special to me is the heart behind it. Azalia’s Way was created in honor of my daughter after experiencing the loss of her through stillbirth. Turning that pain into purpose has allowed me to support other families during some of the most vulnerable and sacred moments of their lives. Being trusted to walk alongside families during pregnancy and birth is something I never take lightly.

One of the most exciting parts of my work is seeing families leave the experience feeling stronger, more confident, and more connected to their support systems. My mission has always been about helping create healthier villages by making sure families have the care, knowledge, and advocacy they deserve.

In addition to my work in maternal support, I am also an author. Writing has become another way for me to share encouragement, education, and healing with a broader audience. I’m excited to share that books four and five will be released soon, which is a huge milestone in my journey as both a writer and community advocate.

Everything I do is rooted in service, faith, and the belief that every family deserves compassionate, informed care. Through Azalia’s Way, my goal is to continue building healthier communities, supporting families, and honoring my daughter’s legacy by helping save and heal lives—one birth at a time.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back on my journey, three things have been especially impactful: resilience, compassion, and the willingness to keep learning.

First, resilience has been essential. Life and business both come with challenges, and my personal experiences—especially the loss of my daughter—forced me to find strength I didn’t know I had. That experience reshaped my purpose and reminded me that even in grief, something meaningful can grow. Resilience has helped me keep moving forward and continue serving others, even during difficult seasons.

Second, compassion has guided everything I do. In maternal support work, you are meeting families during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. Being able to truly listen, hold space, and approach people with empathy makes all the difference. Compassion builds trust, and trust is the foundation of the work I do.

Third, a commitment to learning has been incredibly important. Whether through formal education, professional training, or simply learning from the families and communities I serve, I believe growth never stops. The more knowledge you gain, the better you can serve others.

For those early in their journey, my advice would be to stay rooted in your “why.” Purpose will carry you through moments when things feel uncertain. Be open to learning, surround yourself with people who challenge and support you, and don’t be afraid to start small. Every step you take is building something greater, even if you can’t see the full picture yet.

Most importantly, remember that your voice and your work matter. Stay committed, stay compassionate, and trust that the journey will shape you into who you need to become.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Yes, I’m always open to meaningful partnerships and collaborations. The work I do is centered around building healthier communities, and that kind of impact is best achieved when people come together with a shared mission.

I’m especially interested in collaborating with healthcare professionals, doulas, midwives, therapists, community organizations, churches, and advocates who are passionate about improving maternal health and supporting families during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I also enjoy partnering with educators, authors, and organizations that focus on wellness, grief support, and community empowerment.

Through Azalia’s Way LLC, my goal is to continue creating strong support systems—what I often call “healthy villages”—for families. Collaboration allows us to expand resources, share knowledge, and ultimately reach more families who need compassionate and informed care.

If someone reading this feels aligned with that mission, I would love to connect. You can reach me through social media at @Azalia’s Way on Facebook; @the_doula_jasmine on Instagram and TikTok; or by email at [email protected], to start the conversation about how we can work together to serve families and strengthen our communities.

At the heart of everything I do is the belief that when we work together with purpose, we can truly heal and save lives—one birth at a time.
