We were lucky to catch up with Jasmine Garner recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Confidence and healthy self-esteem were something I lacked greatly in my life up until my early 20s. It wasn’t until I met Jesus and learned who He was that I was able to discover who I was. As a young lady, confidence is easily drowned out by the noise of the culture or the voices from your past which further causes challenges with self-esteem. You lose who you are when your attention is on what “they” think versus what God thinks and knows about you.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m a Commercial and Print Model and a Dual-Certified Body Image and Self-Esteem Coach. Modeling is a super exciting and fun career for me. I love the adventure of traveling, putting on outfits, and being the face or persona of a brand. What makes it unique is that I get to do this without compromising on my beliefs and while being an influence to women and girls about their body image and confidence.
My love for helping women discover their identity and beauty in Christ while modeling is the perfect mesh. Christian Body Image is my newest brand project and we offer courses for women struggling with comparison, fear of opinions, and insecurities. We have made it an app format so that courses can be taken on the go without logging in to website browsers.
We also host an annual event in Los Angeles called, In His Image. It’s a conference for young women who struggle with body image and self-esteem issues and they come to learn strategies for increasing confidence, loving the current versions of themselves, and hearing a word from God.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three qualities that were the most impactful in my journey are faith, prayer, and consistent work. There’s a scripture in James 2:17 that says, “Faith without works is dead.” This means that belief without action is ineffective. If you believe you’ll be successful or happy doing XYZ, then you will take daily actions for that to come to fruition. Similarly, for those who say they believe in Jesus Christ, that will be followed up with consistent action to follow Him.
So for those starting out or still sitting on their beliefs, I encourage you to take just one daily action that will get you closer to your goal.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am looking for collaborators right now. If you run a business, church, or nonprofit that serves young women, I’d love to share my coaching strategies with them to help boost their confidence and self-esteem. You never know how many women are wearing a mask of makeup just trying to get through the day but need inner healing.
I’m also looking for conservative and chic brands to model for. We can pull together some fun and engaging fashion campaigns for your e-commerce store.
