Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jasmine Johnson . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jasmine, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
There have been many times in my life when I was told I was “doing too much,” and this language seeped into my own self-talk, causing me to shrink back and prioritize others’ comfort over my own. Over time, I grew exhausted from metaphorically holding this lampshade over myself. A pivotal moment came when someone I deeply respect said to me, “What if the people around you are not doing enough, and that’s what’s challenging them?” This statement profoundly shifted my thinking.
I began asking myself, “What would happen if I showed up as my authentic self in every space and embraced who I was designed to be?” I decided to test this theory, and the results were transformative. Not only did it make others feel more confident and reassured in being themselves, but it also energized me, making me feel more lively, empowered, and impactful.
Overcoming imposter syndrome for me was about shifting my mindset and changing my perspective on the environments I entered. Instead of allowing these environments to change me, I chose to influence them by showing up with purpose and intention. This shift empowered me to embrace my true self and inspired others to do the same.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
At The Way Solutions Group (TWSG), we bridge faith-based organizations (FBOs) with mental health services to better serve our communities. We bring together FBO leaders, mental health professionals, advisory board members, contractors, and partners to create sustainable mental health solutions.
What excites us most about our work is our impact on Black and Brown communities. Many clients in these communities don’t return for counseling due to cultural mismatches. TWSG addresses this by providing culturally competent care, ensuring better outcomes and support.
Q: Can you share anything new or unique about your brand?
We help FBOs establish behavioral health centers, managing the complex processes so they can focus on their mission. Our team boasts over 45 years of combined experience in mental health and faith communities. We listen to our clients’ needs and leverage best practices to create tailored solutions that truly make a difference.
Q: What inspired you to start TWSG?
The journey began amidst personal struggles with divorce, trauma, and a global crisis. Through these challenges, resilience and independence were discovered, leading to the pursuit of entrepreneurial dreams. During this time, faith in God and the support of therapy played crucial roles in healing. Despite being a therapist, finding a compatible counselor was difficult until experiencing significant loss. This personal experience highlighted the importance of accessible, culturally competent mental health care.
Q: What message would you like to leave with our readers?
Therapists and counselors are instrumental in helping individuals navigate pain and facilitate healing. This story underscores the profound impact these professionals can have. Reflecting on the journey with The Way Solutions Group (TWSG), three key qualities and skills stand out:

2. Cultural Responsiveness: Addressing the unique needs of Black and Brown communities has been crucial. Understanding and respecting cultural differences ensure that services are relevant and effective. Aspiring professionals should actively seek to educate themselves about diverse cultures and engage in continuous learning to improve their cultural competency.
3. Collaboration: Bringing together FBO leaders, mental health professionals, community leaders , advisory board members, and partners has been essential in creating sustainable mental health solutions. Building strong, collaborative relationships is key. For those starting out, focus on networking and building partnerships that align with your mission. Collaboration often leads to innovative solutions and shared success.
Advice:
– Develop Resilience: Embrace challenges as learning experiences. Maintain a positive outlook and remain adaptable.
– Enhance Cultural Responsiveness: Engage with diverse communities, participate in cultural competence training, and stay informed about the specific needs of the populations you aim to serve.
