We recently connected with Jasmine Lang and have shared our conversation below.
Jasmine, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
My optimism comes from my faith. I have faith that everything will work out how it is supposed to in the end. I have had several moments where I think I am not going to do well or I don’t see a way out of a tough situation and I’m always proven wrong and question myself on why I worried in the beginning. Being optimistic helps me continue my drive for success and helps others become optimistic as well. If I am optimistic those who surround me will be as well, which creates a positive community for myself.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Makeup saved me from a lot of hurt as a child. Going through puberty in middle school was super embarrassing because it showed on my face. I would go in my mothers bathroom and put on her foundation to feel like myself again. Also, I would sit on YouTube for hours learning how to care for my skin and execute makeup. Throughout middle school, highschool , and college I practiced my craft on myself and others who saw potential in me. After I began to believe in myself I realized Skin care and makeup can be my career. My ultimate goal is to take away the hurt I felt as a child from every woman who has issues with their skin. I know beauty is not only about the skin it comes from the inside, which is why my slogan is “You Glow Girl” . Sometimes we don’t see the potential in ourselves until someone shows us, and I want to be that person. I am expanding my brand daily by doing pop up events, makeup and skin care classes at my current job and networking any chance that I get . Being an entrepreneur has taught me to believe in myself no matter the circumstance, stay positive and always have a plan.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Time management, being personable and persistent are the three qualities that impacted my entrepreneurial venture. My advice to others would be to have a plan write it down and take action immediately.
When we wait we miss out on what could have been by worrying about the now.
All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
I am currently facing the obstacle of making a decision to stay in state or expand my business to another state . I am currently weighing all my options and the pros/cons.
