Jasmine, sincerely appreciate your selflessness in agreeing to discuss your mental health journey and how you overcame and persisted despite the challenges. Please share with our readers how you overcame. Mental health has been a struggle all of my life and choosing not to give up despite the challenges that laid ahead everyday was the fire to keep me going.
Mental health isn’t a one time thing that you overcome, you continue to overcome it throughout life and grow stronger in coping abilities the more you try and continue to conquer what you go through.
I’ve had depression, anxiety and overwhelming intrusive thoughts try to slow me down. It really comes down to choosing to believe in the good about yourself, about your life and about your career. Desiring to be the very best version of yourself, even when that looks different from day to day.
I find myself praying and incorporating even a few minutes of meditation in my daily routine. Keeping a positive mindset to overcome the negativity that tries to take over is vital.
I also choose to reach out to a few trusted people in my life. It has been important for me to accept that I am not alone in this and though no one else can solve the challenges I face, it gives me strength to know I am loved as I am.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a professional makeup artist! My company is called RoseHand Art & Co. And yes… I have a rose tattooed on my actual hand, which is where “RoseHand” came from.
The tattoo on my hand is actually a cover up from another tattoo of a different time in my life. My brand in a way has been a rebirth in my life.
I am able to express my creativity in many different ways. Whether it’s making everyday clients and brides feel beautiful or models and actors feel their very best to present themselves in their own work.
I train and mentor other makeup artists to build up their business and artistic skills. The best part of my job is inspiring others to follow their dreams and getting them to continue to believe in themselves.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Eagerness to learn and be better than you were yesterday
My advice would be to always be hungry to learn. Express good energy and be welcoming to the opportunities that come your way.
Truly listen to your client and be confident in what you can do and seek training from others in areas you are not so confident in. No one starts off perfect or the best.. but people who watch you desire to grow and show potential in these areas will want to help you grow.
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
My husband has been the best wise counsel in a lot of my decision making and he has been a great inspiration to me to believe in myself to become something more.
Sometimes you just need someone to be excited about who you are and what you are doing to help you act on the great qualities already inside you.
He is truly someone that doesn’t quit on me and makes sure I don’t quit on myself. Believe in yourself and others will see!!
I am truly thankful to the many people that have helped me in my journey to be where I am right now. I could not do any of this alone.
