We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jasmine Noghrey. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with jasmine below.
Jasmine , thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
Creativity is something I try to keep at the center of everything I do. On Sundays, I teach adaptive art in a special education program that welcomes people of all ages and abilities. It’s such an inspiring space and it pushes me to think in new and imaginative ways. As an occupational therapist, I bring that same mindset into my sessions by finding playful and meaningful approaches that make the process engaging. As a professor, I am always looking for innovative ways to teach and connect with students. Each part of my work feeds into the other, and that constant exchange is what keeps my creativity alive.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m an occupational therapist, and I’ve recently taken an exciting step by creating my own private practice. Building something from the ground up has been both challenging and rewarding, and I’m looking forward to growing it in ways that best serve my clients and community. Alongside that, I also teach at the university level, where I get to help shape the next generation of occupational therapists. Teaching keeps me inspired and constantly learning myself.
In my free time, I enjoy leading adaptive art classes for a special education program and facilitating social skills groups. Those experiences are a lot of fun and give me another way to connect with people of all ages and abilities through creativity and community. Altogether, these different roles allow me to blend my passions for therapy, education, and the arts, which keeps my work meaningful and full of variety.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the first quality that has made the biggest impact in my journey is having the courage to take risks. I have been bold about going after the opportunities I want and not settling for less than I know I deserve. That confidence comes from trusting in the skills I have built and the value I bring to my work.
The second quality is determination. I am always seeking ways to expand my knowledge, sharpen my skills, and continue growing both personally and professionally. That constant drive to learn has opened doors and kept me moving forward.
The third quality is creativity. Whether I am working with clients, teaching students, or leading adaptive art sessions, I rely on creative problem solving to make things meaningful and effective.
For those early in their journey, my advice is to embrace risk taking even when it feels uncomfortable, stay determined by committing to lifelong learning, and nurture creativity by looking for fresh perspectives in every situation.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
My best friend has truly been my biggest supporter and my rock, especially during the most challenging times. They have always believed in me, even when I doubted myself, and their encouragement has pushed me to go further than I thought I was capable of. Knowing that someone sees my full potential and reminds me of it has made all the difference in helping me grow and succeed.
