Jasmine, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
I get my optimism from the way that I was raised. For as long as I can remember I was taught to follow my dreams, no matter how big they were. This was especially pushed by the women around me, and coming up with my business was no different. Becoming a business owner so young, I knew that my age didn’t matter, and that nothing was impossible for me to accomplish.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am the owner of Doggy Dog Treats by Jazzy, I am 14 turning 15 in a few weeks, and I love dogs. At the age of 9 one day I was bored and wanted something fun to do, that’s when it hit me. I had a very strong love for dogs and baking and thought why not put them together. When I shared my new idea to my parents they were very hesitant, however after almost a year of asking they finally said yes. If we jump forward to today, I am a freshman in high school, and my dog treats are officially on commercial shelves all over Marin County. This year I have been working to expand my business even further.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three biggest pieces of advice that I could give people just starting on their journey are to stay consistent, manage your time wisely, and that all good things are meant to be- so be patient. When I first started out, I struggled on seeing the long term goals. however now, even though it can still be hard I feel as if my goals are more attainable. I’ve put the work in and now I am starting to see it pay off.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Currently I am in a phase of finding other businesses to carry my dog treats. With the ability to get more eyes on my treats I believe that my business could grow substantially, as well as expand even further. It would also enable me to be able to connect with investors who believe in me and my story that want to help me reach a larger audience.
