Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jasmine Viola. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Jasmine with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
Growing up, I was the only child of a single mother. I think Mother did the best she could to give me things she never had. As a child, she taught me: time management, my customer service voice, and policy adherence. Her resiliency was an inspiration, and she never gave up. A strong work ethic and determination go hand in hand….. I GET IT FROM MY MOMMA! 🙂
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Currently, I work as a Compliance director within the cannabis industry. My job includes overseeing retail operations, compliance adherence, and human resource functions. The unique part about my job is the people. The cannabis industry is in its infancy, yet it has the potential to change the world. Many people don’t realize how heavily regulated the industry is, including the evolving laws and social dynamics.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, I believe that skills such as time management, problem-solving and leadership were the most impactful during my journey. I would encourage those early in their journey to keep themselves highly organized. This includes utilizing virtual assistants, digital calendars, set reminders, alarms, etc. Everyone has a cell phone these days. I encourage young people to stop playing games and let technology put them in a better position to win!
Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
My communication skills. I believe that I’m a lot more clear in my expectations of others. I set boundaries and encourage feedback to ensure understanding. I’ve also been on a healing journey for the last year. I’m far from the person I used to be, I try to use every day as an opportunity to improve.
