We recently connected with Jason Albert and have shared our conversation below.

Jason, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

This is a very layered question as both my wife and I have different reasons, but at the same time have a common goal and driver. First and foremost, God is our purpose and everything that we do revolves around the vision and opportunities that he lays out in front of us. We choose to follow that path and it has truly continued to open doors. For Tracy, she found her purpose and passion in baking, when she was an Infant Teacher/Educator for Bright Horizons. She found a peace and joy in helping parents realize a vision for important milestones in their lives and she found a purpose in giving that to others through baking. For myself, Jason, I have always enjoyed engaging with the community and finding ways to help others in any way that I could. Cake Town Bakery has given both my wife and I the opportunity to take simple ingredients and turn them into delicious and edible memories. Not only that it has allowed us to provide a space for community and celebration for our town.

In the heart of Knightdale, a small-town bakery has become a viral sensation, captivating the hearts and stomachs of locals and visitors alike. Cake Town Bakery, a haven for delectable treats and community spirit, has not only become a go-to destination for mouthwatering baked goods but also a cherished gathering place for the community.

A Viral Sensation

Cake Town Bakery’s journey to viral fame began with its irresistible creations. From the moment the bakery opened its doors, its handcrafted cakes, pastries, and breads captivated the taste buds of locals. Word of mouth spread like wildfire, and soon, the bakery’s Instagram and TikTok feeds were flooded with drool-worthy photos and videos of its delectable offerings.

The bakery’s online presence exploded, with thousands of followers eager to try its signature creations. The buzz reached a fever pitch when a local influencer shared a video of their Famous Nana Pudding and Red Velvet Pound Cake Cheesecake. There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

One of the most important qualities for sure is perseverance. Cake Town opened in the middle of the Covid Pandemic, and navigating uncharted waters with that was certainly a challenge. When you have a dream and a vision, you have to be willing to work hard and sacrifice your time and of course sleep, haha, in order to make your dreams a reality.

Next you have to be open to learning and change. It is very easy to fall into the trap of thinking things will always go your way and then be stumped when they don’t. You have to be willing to adapt to your circumstances and learn from your pitfalls, not only for yourself but for others you may encounter along the way.

Finally, the most important is consistency. No matter what industry you are in, it is important to be consistent for yourself and your customers. People pay attention to how you move and operate in your business and in your life. Consistency will earn your customers trust and keep them coming back.

Our biggest piece of advice and one that gets overlooked a lot, is give yourself some grace. Opening and running a business is not easy and there is no real handbook on how to do it. Know and understand that you will make mistakes and that is ok, they help you learn and adapt to be better. Do not be too hard on yourself and block out the external noise. As long as you give your best each day your business will thrive and your customers will continue to support you through all the ups and downs.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

When we feel overwhelmed running a business, our first step is to prioritize and delegate. Tracy and I try to focus on urgent and important tasks, and are not afraid to ask for help or say no to new commitments. Time management is also crucial; we block out specific times for tasks, batch similar activities, and utilize productivity tools. We do our best to prioritize self-care to avoid burnout, ensuring we get enough sleep, exercise, and practice mindfulness. We also regularly re-evaluate our goals and our business goals and seek feedback to ensure we are on the right track. Most importantly, we make sure to reconnect with our passion and celebrate successes to stay motivated.
