Meet Jason Boykins Jr

We were lucky to catch up with Jason Boykins Jr recently and have shared our conversation below.

Jason , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

Confidence has always been a part of me. From a young age, it was instilled in me by my family — passed down from my great-grandparents, through my parents, to my siblings. Confidence, self-esteem, and pride in who we are wasn’t just encouraged, it was expected. It was the soil my family tree was rooted in.

But here’s the truth: confidence is not permanent. Just like any healthy relationship, it must be nurtured. We often forget that the most important relationship we will ever have is with ourselves — mentally, emotionally, and physically. When we neglect it, confidence begins to fade. What helped me rebuild my confidence wasn’t external success or recognition — it was the start of my family. Being shown unconditional love, being accepted fully for who I am, reminded me of something I had forgotten: I am enough. That realization reignited the self-acceptance I had as a child, when I believed in myself without doubt. Confidence is not arrogance, and it’s not about always being the loudest in the room. True confidence is quiet strength, born from self-acceptance. It is knowing you are loved and capable no matter the circumstances. For me, that understanding became a form of healing. It helped me overcome past struggles and gave me the courage to continue developing the skills and emotions that were always within me. What I’ve learned is this: confidence doesn’t start with achievements. It starts with lineage, love, and acceptance. And when nurtured, it becomes a legacy that carries forward to future generations — a confidence rooted in history, reinforced by family, and reignited by purpose.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

What once began as a personal ambition — the drive to become the best bodybuilder and personal trainer in the Cleveland area — has evolved into something far greater than myself. It has become a movement, a standard, and a vision designed to serve the Ohio community and, in time, extend beyond the city walls and limits.

My journey started in fitness. But recently, with the inspiration of my loving family, my creativity has been reignited. I’ve always been known for my ability to network and develop business opportunities. Yet, deep down, my true passion has always been holistic living.

This shared passion is what bonded me and my wife, Christina. From the beginning, we discovered that we shared the same vision, the same values, and the same desire to align our lives with a higher standard. Out of that alignment, BodyByBoyk was born. What started as a growing fitness business has now expanded into a digital magazine — a platform where fitness and holistic living serve as the medium to connect people, spark conversations, and build community. Through this space, we not only provide personal training services but also host business meetings, develop partnerships, and expand our network.

BodyByBoyk Performance Magazine has become a hub for networking, branding, and impact. It’s where we blend fitness, lifestyle, and business into one voice that elevates both our digital presence and our footprint in the Cleveland community. The impact has already been meaningful. We’ve had the opportunity to inspire others, create real connections, and now, to take the next step forward: launching our non-profit organization. This nonprofit will embody the same mission that started with one man’s personal ambition — to create opportunity, promote holistic health, and build community through service, education, and innovation. From a singular goal to be “the best” in Cleveland, BodyByBoyk has grown into a platform for excellence, connection, and legacy. This isn’t just about fitness anymore — it’s about holistic living, community empowerment, and leaving a mark that lasts for generations.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Every great system, every great philosophy, has a foundation. For BodyByBoyk, that foundation can be broken down into three powerful elements. Three skills, three qualities, three values — that, when practiced daily, become the framework for excellence. The First Three: Skills for Daily Life
1. Emotional Control – In every interaction, in every relationship, the ability to regulate emotions is a superpower. Control allows you to respond with wisdom instead of reacting with impulse. It keeps the vision steady even in storms.
2. Professionalism – Whether the opportunity is big or small, treat it with the same level of respect. As you plan for many, do for one. As you do for one, plan for many. No job is too small when the intent is pure and the execution is excellent.
3. Discipline – The heartbeat of consistency. Discipline ensures that every action is intentional. It is the bridge between goals and achievement. Without discipline, dreams remain distant; with it, they become inevitable. The Deeper Three: Values for Legacy

As powerful as the first three are, they are only sustained when rooted in something greater:
1. Great Virtue – The moral compass that ensures actions are aligned with higher standards. Virtue builds trust and sets the tone for how others experience you.
2. Pure Intent – The why behind every action. When your intentions are clean and honest, the outcomes naturally align with progress and growth.
3. Love – The source of all things. Love elevates discipline, strengthens professionalism, and softens emotional control. Rooted in love, every interaction has the potential to build, not break.
Living the Three

When you combine the skills with the values, you get a complete framework: discipline backed by virtue, professionalism guided by love, and emotional control driven by pure intent. It’s not about perfection — it’s about consistency. Because when everything is rooted in love, everything else will always fall into place. It’s just a matter of time.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

Love as the Foundation: A Tribute to Christina

Behind every great journey is someone who makes the road lighter, clearer, and more meaningful. For me, that person has been my wife, Christina Boykin.

She has been the most impactful force in helping me rediscover who I truly am. Through her love and support, she has taught me one of the most important lessons in life: you must love yourself before you can fully love others.

From the outside looking in, Christina has always seen the size of my heart. She has reminded me — time and time again — that the false narratives I sometimes believed about myself were never the truth. She saw past the doubts and spoke life back into me. She reminded me that I am, and always have been, a man of great virtue, pure intent, and love.

Our friendship, our marriage, and our family were built on this foundation of self-love and mutual respect. With Christina, I’ve been able to realign with the best version of myself. She has reignited in me the strength, confidence, and purpose I always knew I had — and for that, I am forever grateful.

With her by my side, and with our baby girl as our daily blessing, I am reminded every day of the legacy we’re building together. Legacy rooted in love. Legacy that will carry forward far beyond us.
