Meet Jason Citro I Jasonsellsphx

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jason Citro I Jasonsellsphx. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jason below.

Jason, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

I would confidently say my resilience comes from life presenting me some substantial obstacles, making it evident that it was either sink or swim and me deciding, “Yeah, not today, or any day.” and pivoting at the drop of a dime.

It’s built from moving across the country with nothing but a dream and a gut feeling. From moments where I was laid off from my 9-5 job, Real Estate deals fell apart, when I questioned if I was even cut out for this, when the pressure felt so heavy I wasn’t sure how to push through. It’s from watching people count me out—and proving them wrong. Again and again. 🙂

It comes from learning that no one is coming to save you. That if you want something, you have to show up—every damn day—even when you’re exhausted, even when it’s unfair, even when you don’t see the results yet. It’s knowing that failure isn’t final, that setbacks are setups, and that the only way out is through.

And honestly? It’s from choosing—over and over—to bet on myself, even when it would’ve been easier to quit.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m Jason, the face behind JasonSellsPHX, where I don’t just sell homes—I curate lifestyles. Real estate is more than just square footage and price tags; it’s about finding the perfect space that makes you feel at home the second you walk through the door. And that? That’s an art.

My journey started when I moved to Phoenix from Chicago, chasing sunshine and a dream. I didn’t have deep pockets or an established name in the game and frankly still don’t but am paving my own way, in my own time, in my own unique way. it all started with just a hustle, a sharp eye for homes with potential, and a personality that doesn’t take “no” for an answer. Fast-forward to today, and I’ve curated a brand that’s as much about the luxury experience as it is about authenticity. I tell it like it is, make the process fun (yes, even the stressful parts), and fight for my clients like it’s my own money on the table.

What makes my approach different? I bring personality to an industry that desperately needs it. People don’t want a boring sales pitch—they want someone who actually gets what they want, guides them with confidence, and isn’t afraid to mix in a little wit along the way. Buying or selling a home is one of the biggest moves people make in life, and I make sure my clients feel supported every step of the way.

What’s next for JasonSellsPHX? More growth, more luxury, and more shaking things up. I’m doubling down on creating real, unfiltered content that educates buyers and sellers without the corporate fluff. There’s also an expansion happening (stay tuned 👀), and some exciting new collaborations in the works. The goal? To make buying and selling in Phoenix feel like the VIP experience it should be.

So, if you’re looking for a real estate experience that’s smart, strategic, and sprinkled with just the right amount of sass—I’m your guy. Let’s make some moves.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, I’d say there were three absolute game-changers in my journey: relentless resilience, sharp intuition, and unapologetic authenticity.

Resilience – Mastering the Art of Getting Back Up

Real estate (and life, honestly) will test you. Deals fall through, clients ghost you, and some months make you question everything. The ones who win? They keep showing up. Resilience isn’t about avoiding failure—it’s about getting punched in the gut by it and saying, Cool, what’s next?

My Advice: Get comfortable with discomfort. Things will go wrong, but every loss is a lesson. Take the hit, adjust, and come back stronger. If you’re not failing, you’re not trying hard enough.

Intuition – Always Learning Trust Your Gut

You can analyze data, run the numbers, and study the trends—but at the end of the day, your gut instinct is one of the sharpest tools in the box. The best moves I’ve made in real estate weren’t always the “safe” ones—they were the ones that just felt right.

Advice: Tune in to patterns. Trust your gut, but train it. Learn from people who’ve been where you want to go, and don’t ignore that little voice that tells you, this is (or isn’t) the right move, and proceed accordingly.

Authenticity – Owning Your Brand!

Let’s be real: People can smell inauthenticity from a mile away. The second I stopped trying to fit into some “perfect agent” mold and just owned my voice, my business gained traction. People want to work with real humans, not robotic salespeople.

My Advice: Figure out what makes you you—then lean all the way into it. Whether it’s your humor, your storytelling, your ability to connect—make that your brand. The right people will find you, and more importantly, they’ll trust you.

My Final Thought?

Your journey will be messy. It’ll be unpredictable. And at times, it’ll make you want to throw your laptop out the window. But if you stay resilient, trust your instincts, and show up as your unapologetic self—you won’t just succeed. You’ll stand out. And that? That’s where the magic happens.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

Oh, overwhelm? Been there, felt that, got the T-shirt.

When I’m drowning in to-dos, client calls, deals that need saving, and a dog that still somehow needs more attention—here’s what I do:

Pause & Prioritize – Not Everything Is an Emergency

When everything feels urgent, nothing actually is. I stop, take a breath, and ask: What truly moves the needle today? Spoiler alert: It’s usually not answering that one email immediately or stressing over a problem that doesn’t have a solution yet. I tackle the highest-impact tasks first, and the rest? It can get in line with the rest of the tasks!

Move My Body – Because Stress Needs an Exit Plan

If I’m spiraling, I grab Prince (my dog and unofficial therapist) and go for a walk. Or just step into my backyard for fresh air and sunshine. Moving my body forces me to shift my mindset—because i’ve found sitting in stress only makes it worse.

Reconnect with Why I’m Doing This

Overwhelm usually means I’m focusing too much on the chaos and not enough on the mission. So, I remind myself: I moved across the country to build this life. I worked my ass off to create a brand that stands out. I get to help people make one of the biggest decisions of their lives. That perspective shift? It’s everything i need to recalibrate my mindset.

Give Myself Permission to Step Back

This one took time to learn & frankly i’m still working on it, but resting is productive. If I’m running on fumes, I take a break—without guilt, most of the time 🙂 Whether it’s a weekend away, a few hours off social, or just a night in with zero work talk, stepping back actually helps me come back sharper.

My Advice?

Feeling overwhelmed doesn’t mean you’re failing—it means you care. But don’t let the chaos run you. Step back, simplify, and move forward with intention. The work will always be there. Your sanity? Protect that at all costs.
