We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jason Hensley. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jason below.
Jason, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Conference comes from preparation. The way to be confident in anything is to have studied the topic and researched it. You must prepare in whatever way possible so that when you approach it, you know it inside out and when it’s time to perform all the hard work has already been done in training.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My family and I own a Jiu-Jitsu school and we see Jiu-Jitsu as a good gift of creation and a tool that helps to develop self-discipline, self-esteem, self-sacrifice, and selfless service. Exodus Jiu-Jitsu gives us an opportunity to serve the community, by not only providing a high level of Jiu-Jitsu instruction and self-defense but also an opportunity to gather as a group of like-minded friends, sharing in the beautiful joy that is this martial art. We seek to develop long-term relationships which leave a positive impact not only on individual lives but on the
community as a whole. Jiu-Jitsu has served as a constant in our family’s lives. It has helped us stay fit, as well as learn the power of perseverance, and find a community like no other. After watching countless adults, children and families experience the same things as they begin their own journeys, our family decided it
was time to share the gift of BJJ through teaching. From this love for the art and the life-changing effects seen in others, the dream of Exodus Jiu-Jitsu was born.
Something I’m excited about is we will be introducing an Exodus coffee line. The really cool thing about this particular brand of coffee is that from source to customer, it is a complete missions based product. The coffee is sourced in the Amazonian region and the grower only hires local native women so they have chance to earn an income for their families. In the rural areas of the Amazonian region, local and native women have very few opportunities to support their families. These growers are leaving a lasting impact on the future generations of their community. The local Phoenix based roaster that we use is also a missional organization that runs cohorts for foster care and at risk youth, to learn the business of coffee and entrepreneurship. On the retail end 100% of the profits from this coffee business will go to the sponsoring of at risk and under privileged kids to get a chance to participate in Jiu-Jitsu.
So the readers can check out our website and our social media in the near future to find this amazing coffee brand and if they still choose help to support this missional supply chain.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
If I had only pick three qualities, I would say learn to love yourself. Learn to love your neighbor, and learn to love the Lord Jesus. Everything else will
fall into line! Love conquers all!
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
Hands-down, no questions asked the most helpful person in my life has been Jesus, once you come to a relationship with the Lord. It’s like the world around you changes. Those challenges that you’re trying to overcome they become easier, those skills you’re trying to acquire, they become available, that knowledge you’re seeking is always just on the other side of you reaching out to find it.
The Holy Spirit will move in response to prayer, so as you pray about those challenges, as you pray about those skills, opportunities will appear in your life that will allow you to overcome challenges and build those skills.
The number one factor to any kind of success I have had is prayer and relationship with Jesus.
