Meet Jason J. Battle

We recently connected with Jason J. Battle and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jason J. , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

I like to think my purpose found me. I didn’t realize I was living life directionless & purposeless until I got on stage to perform for the first time. I was in my junior year of undergrad majoring in economics and finance. During this time, I guess I had some sort of epiphany. I realized I didn’t want to spend my life crunching numbers 9 to 5 in a cubicle 40 hours a week. I just wasn’t passionate about what I was majoring in. I emailed every theatre professor at my university letting them know I didn’t plan on changing my major this late but if they could give me private lessons on the side, that would be great. Only one of them emailed me back. He told me to learn a monologue, come to his office and perform it. I learned a monologue from August Wilsons’ Fences. A month later, he asked me to come audition for a play the theatre department was putting up. My first acting audition ever. I got the part. That entire journey of rehearsals up until the performance, I felt at home. The moment that stuck out to me the most was the reaction of the audience. Seeing the crowd brought to tears by our performance was so beautiful to me. Thats when I knew my purpose was to heal people through ART. To allow people to see themselves in my characters or hear their stories in my music.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

While Acting is my first passion, I identify as an artist. It’s all encompassing. The beautiful thing about being an Artist is being an instrument for art to flow through me in whatever compacity it needs to. I get to tell stories through television/film as well as singing and songwriting. The goal is to give the world art that will live forever, Art that resonates with the viewer or listener. Art that heals.

Im lucky to still be working, while the entertainment industry is in such a strange place. Im currently be a series regular on a show by the name Complicated:Atlanta on Amazon Prime. Im blessed to make an appearance on a very popular show on Starz early 2025. Im also currently working on a short film/pilot shooting the first week of November here in Los Angeles. I’m working on new music as well.

Aside from acting, Ive recently started my own Social Media Management brand. I created ‘Half The Battle’ to bring companies more business, more customers, and more revenue via their social media outlets. After all, we all know Half The Battle of getting business is marketing and exposure. Thats where I come in.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Faith, first and foremost. The ability to trust my gut and take a leap into an industry with so much uncertainty. Being open to allow passion and purpose lead me instead of logic & practicality. Practicing getting out of my own way and out of my comfort zone. Secondly, my work ethic. Setting goals in accomplishing them. With anything you truly desire in life, I believe you have to take a ‘by any means necessary approach. Once you decide what you want out of life don’t let anything or anyone stop you or cast doubt. Go after it 100% Learn it inside and out, everyday. Third would be perseverance. Just simply keep going. Even when it gets hard, keep showing up for yourself. Don’t quit.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?

The number 1 thing I’ve learned in the last 12 months was to be extremely intentional. Be intentional about everything. From the moment I wake up every decision I make needs to align with my purpose. Time is flying by and we only have one shot at this life so live on purpose. Be intentional.
