Meet Jason Kimbrow

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jason Kimbrow a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jason, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

When I was twenty years old I started seeing visions of myself teaching the Bible to crowds and it freaked me out! However, I could not get rid of them. God had placed a burden on my heart to preach the Gospel to people in a way that made sense to them. I ran from this calling for awhile but I could not outrun it! I finally gave up and told God, “I’ll do whatever you want.”

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am the pastor of Legacy Church in Fayetteville, Arkansas. I focus on teaching the Bible in a relevant and creative way where the average person can understand it. One of the most exciting parts of what I do is getting to walk alongside people and help them in their spiritual journey. There’s nothing quite like helping people discover their God-given purpose in life!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I worked at a large church for about 20 years. This is the place I learned to preach, lead, and learn about organizational leadership. It was a vital part of my journey. Hands-on experience is so valuable to growth and maturity.

I studied and received a Bachelors degree in Bible and Masters degree in Christian Leadership. These years of study set me up to have a strong base knowledge of how to be an effective communicator and leader.

Excellence is a quality I have always pursued. I know I will never be perfect but I can always give my best and strive to be great at whatever I do. I know that in everything I do, I am doing unto God.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?

The biggest area of my growth as a leader recently has been in the area of pioneering and innovating.

Pioneers see what others can’t. They see with the eyes of their heart. They have a vision of what should be and what could be.

Pioneers start when others won’t. Pioneers don’t wait for perfect conditions. They just go try it. They fail forward.

Pioneers sacrifice what others don’t. Pioneers pay a price. They spend their time, energy, money, and comforts. They sow so others can reap.

Pioneers stand when others quit. They never quit and persevere when the path gets tough.
