Meet Jauston Carter

We were lucky to catch up with Jauston Carter recently and have shared our conversation below.

Jauston , thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?

My creativity mainly stems from my observation of my life itself. I listen to alot of music and just that alone helps me stay active with my own music and creativity.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am an independent artist who’s been making music for about 5 years now. My biggest talent is singing and I’ve been doing it since I was a child. Music has definitely changed my life fir the better and I plan on doing this for as long as I can.

I have made many music covers over the years and I do have my own original projects. I am so thankful to God for blessing me with the gifts that I have now and hopefully in the future I’ll discover more talents about myself that I never knew about.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

My skills came in as I got older and older. And of course with alot of practice. None of my talents, skills, and knowledge happened overnight. I’m still learning now and I got plenty more things to learn about when it comes to music and the industry itself.

My advice to anybody who is tryna pursue music is to do it only if they have a genuine interest it. You have to really find yourself spiritually and mentally to become an artist. The more you create and practice, the more you’ll learn more about yourself. You’ll accomplish so much that way and be proud of yourself.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

Life is already a big roller-coaster as it is so of course I’m going feel overwhelmed at times. Music and life itself can be tough when things fall down right in front of you and you can’t move it because it’s too heavy. One quote I learned from a video game is that balance is a process, not a destination. Sometimes I forget that I’m still human and I gotta give myself a break abd rest not just my body but my mind as well. Sometimes I could be going through it and my creativity it everywhere but one spot.

My way of handling that is to just give yourself TIME!! Never react off of emotions and just STOP, PRAY, and entertain yourself until you relax and clear your mind. Meditation can go a long way. Music is where I began so it’s where I turn to in my time of self hatred and doubts about myself.
