We recently connected with Javier Aponte and have shared our conversation below.
Javier, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us today. We’re excited to dive into your story and your work, but first let’s start with a broader topic that might be stopping many of our readers from pursuing their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. How have you managed to persist despite haters and nay-sayers that inevitably follow folks who are doing something unique, special or off the beaten path?
I persist despite the haters, nay-sayers, etc knowing who I am, haters can say what they want to say but at the end of the day is who you are, your integrity, your genuine self, being true to yourself and to others that gives you the confidence you need to keep going forward. One thing I’ve learned through the years is the fact that the people that behave like that, when you look into their lives all you see in envy, jealousy, frustration and sadness. You represent what they could have achieved at some point in time but for whatever the reason, they failed. And most of them fail because of themselves! I work hard for what I have and what is come, and I’ve done it being true to myself and the people surrounding me, with integrity. That’s how I persist that kind of thing.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My name is Javier Aponte, I am based here in Nashville TN and I am a musician / producer, drummer and educator. What’s really exciting about what I do is the fact that I get to participate in many people’s stories and make them a reality thru music. Every day is a new opportunity to do this and every time is a different yet exciting chapter! What makes what I do special is the fact that I treat every single work that I do as a storytelling process for myself. I invest all of me in your storytelling process and I will laugh and I will cry with you as if what we’re doing in your song or project is a piece of my life’s story.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I think being not afraid of challenges has been a huge factor in my journey to where I am now. Embracing changes as they come, see those challenges as opportunities for problem solving and growth is the key. Challenges and changes in life only makes you grow as you go on in this journey called life! Not being afraid and understanding that these are opportunities to become a better version of you is the best thing you can do in life.
Advice? DON’T BE AFRAID of what life throws you. Embrace those moments and challenges and use them to grow! This will help you be a better version of you in every single aspect of your life. As they say” “If life throws you lemons, do lemonade!”
Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
Well, the “ideal” client for me would be one that is not afraid to experiment, to take risks. Every time I produce or make music with a client I see it as a new challenge. And it doesn’t matter how many times we’ve worked together or how many years we’ve known each other, for me is always a new thing. If the client is willing to take risks and experiment, and is not afraid of trying and “failing”, that is a great indicator that this person is willing to embark into a journey that could potentially bring his or her song to the next level! If that doesn’t happen well, we can always restart!
