Meet Javier B. Suarez

We recently connected with Javier B. Suarez and have shared our conversation below.

Javier B., so great to have you with us today. There are so many topics we want to ask you about, but perhaps the one we can start with is burnout. How have you overcome or avoided burnout?

By regaining focus and reminding myself of what is important and why things need to be done, and also by knowing that nobody is going to do them for me. It also helps to remember the consequences of not doing certain things.
In a few words, it is about taking a breath and giving myself a small impulse to reset and start again.
Whether the effort is physical or mental, it takes time to reconnect with the reasons why I do what I do, to remember my goals, and to acknowledge what I have already accomplished and where I am right now. That usually reminds me that I have already moved forward, no matter how small the progress may seem. Finally, I gather strength from wherever I can and resume working.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am currently a working actor in Los Angeles.
My acting journey started back in high school, performing in theater plays, followed by ensemble work during my college years. That eventually led me to performing in front of the camera in 2005. It has been a long road filled with constant and never-ending experiences, both on stage and on film sets.
Like many of my colleagues, I pursued acting while working a side job. In my case, I worked in human resources for different companies in my country of origin, Bolivia. In 2014, I made the decision to pursue acting full time. Now, eleven years later, I find myself working across many different areas and genres, and I often amaze myself when I look back at everything I have experienced through the lives of the characters I have portrayed.
In live performance, I have worked in traditional theater, immersive experiences, and musical productions. I have also been learning and practicing improv and storytelling.
In audiovisual work, I have appeared in feature films, short films, music videos, TV shows, and more recently in new media formats such as vertical series. Each of these formats requires different acting styles, which has been both challenging and exciting.
Throughout the years, I have trained with amazing acting coaches and improv teachers, and I have learned so much from talented fellow actors and directors. I feel truly blessed and privileged for those experiences.
I am also very grateful that several films I have been part of have done well and have been selected by prestigious festivals. These include Rodney Ascher’s Ghost Boy, winner of the 2025 SXSW Audience Award; Laura Fantussi’s Attentions, which received an honorable mention at the 2024 Los Angeles Film Awards; and Blake Jarvis’s In Jeff We Trust, which premiered at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival and received awards at several other festivals.
I also played the lead role in T.S. Meeks’ feature Distancia, which has been an official selection at numerous festivals around the world and has won awards at the Brooklyn International Film Festival, Las Vegas International Film Festival, Five Continents International Film Festival, and Rosarito International Film Festival. This film earned me two Best Actor in a Leading Role nominations at the Las Vegas International Film Festival and the Edinburgh International Film Festival.
Over the past year, I have also worked with influential and recognized photographers such as Alex Prager (USA), Peter Juhasz (Hungary), and Horacio Cavalleri (Bolivia). This has been a completely new and incredible experience. Seeing photography featuring me exhibited in galleries across the United States and internationally, including South America and Europe , has been enormously gratifying.
At the moment, I have several film projects and series pilots in development and awaiting green lights, so hopefully I will be able to share more details soon.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

*Patience, which is not easy to maintain when options seem limited and everything feels like it is working against you. You have to trust yourself and what you are doing, while staying open to listening and learning from everything around you. As long as you stay alert and keep working on your craft, the right time will come and things will fall into place.

*Faith is fundamental. You have to believe that if you live your life with righteousness, genuineness, generosity, and humility, you will learn to flow through it. Eventually, God will provide, and you will reach your goals.

*Determination is essential. If you feel you do not have it, search for it everywhere until you find it. Have the discipline to do whatever needs to be done, and always remember the reason you are here in this life. That reason will be the engine that keeps you going.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

The Lord above has placed many people in my life who have believed in me and supported me throughout my journey. My parents, my family, my wife Claudia, who supports me unconditionally, and friends from school, college, and adulthood. Many of them stay in touch and give me encouragement from time to time.
I am also deeply grateful to the friends, colleagues, and directors I have met throughout my acting career, as well as my teachers and mentors from a very young age. In Bolivia, Teresa Cuevas and Bernardo Frank were instrumental in my early development. In Los Angeles, I am thankful for Tom Draper and Tom Lenoci from The Acting Project; Michael Sielaff and the entire team at Rogue Improv LA; Mitchell DeGuzman; James Karis; Atman Mercadillo; Andre Marchand; Tim Meeks; and Rodrigo Lopez, all of whom have continuously supported my career.
I truly believe that we always walk alongside many people, even when we feel or think we are alone on the road. To all of them, the never-ending list of angels who have been and continue to be part of my life, I am forever grateful.
