Meet Jackson Bivens

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jax Bivens a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jax, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I get my resilience from my father. I’m a daddy’s boy and my dad’s always been the perfect role model for me. To this day, he smartly works hard to do what he needs and wants to do. He’s always prepared for worst-case scenarios because he hates last-minute changes. Most important, when someone tells him he can’t do something or they don’t even bother giving him a chance, he proves them wrong every time. “Never live in fear or let someone stop you from doing what you need or want to do.” is what he always told me. So, that’s the foundation of my resilience.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’ve been an Event Security Officer for the Cleveland Cavaliers for several years. That’s what pays the bills. My passion has always been acting. I’m currently a nonunion actor but I have an agent. Despite the strikes that are currently going on (which I fully support, of course), I’m always looking for casting calls. My latest cosplay was on March 25, 2023, at FAN EXPO Cleveland where I was Sub-Zero.

I’ll be cosplaying at the Cleveland Classic Gaming Convention on September 23. And this will be my best Casey Jones ever. It’s going to be the way I should’ve done him since I first donned him.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three qualities that were most impactful through my journey are

– Perseverance
– Open-mindedness
– Being easy to work with.

My grandfather once told me while fishing that perseverance is the key to life. Patience has its reward. You can’t succeed in life if you’re narrow-minded. It’ll get you nowhere and I refuse to remain stagnant. Being easy to work with will present new opportunities for you. So, that would be my advice to the upcoming people who have ambition.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
The number one obstacle I’m currently trying to overcome is getting my driver’s license/getting my first car. It’s all part of the financial health plan I currently have in motion.
