Meet Jaxon Buzzell

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jaxon Buzzell. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jaxon below.

Hi Jaxon, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
I think imposter syndrome is something that may always have a small space in my mind, but a friend told me that ‘imposters don’t have imposter syndrome’ and that made me feel like I was in the right place doing the right things. The amount of care I have for the work I do and the passion behind it always shines through, and I feel like as long as I maintain that I’ll be true to what I’m doing and not an imposter.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My main project is my company, modrNation, which at the moment serves as a media platform, creative agency, and artist management company. We have a growing management roster with artists such as grouptherapy., have creatively served artists and brands such as Khalid, Dreamville, The Alchemist, and more as well as collaborated on events and interviews with MAVI, Kota the Friend, Statik Selektah, and more.

With a primary focus on community and expanding creative boundaries, we are a one-stop-shop for artists, brands, and fans in search of creative direction, career development, or to just expand their taste.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three qualities that have consistently helped me the most would be optimism, initiative, and my genuine interest and passion for what I do, I feel like that always comes across when someone really loves what they do and it makes you want to help them. Being an upcoming manager, director, and business-owner I oftentimes take opportunities and have to work based on someone else’s timeline, so the ability to go with the flow and enjoy the process is not only helpful with success but crucial to enjoying what you do and avoiding burnout.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
Both of my parents are business owners, and go about their business in a very authentic and creative way which has rubbed off on me. Watching them go through the stages of starting businesses while also just being my parents has been inspiring, and I think the older I get the more I realize how much energy that takes and how much they’ve done for me and it kind of puts a battery in my back to go even harder. If I had to simplify the answer to what they taught me that sticks with me the most I’d say that they showed me that business can be a creative thing, the importance of relationships and treating people right, and how valuable a strong and loyal team is.
